Came here with a friend of mine for dinner and some drinks last night. We sat at the bar and had some amazing fries, burgers and sandwiches, and this huge cocktail poured into a literal dog bowl - which was so cool and unique. Needless to say we were having an incredible time and enjoying ourselves. Unfortunately, after an altercation we had with a customer who was making us uncomfortable and violating my personal space, our experience turned very sour (especially for me because it made me super upset). BUT the staff here was incredibly perceptive and caught on to what was happening and immediately stepped in. The bartender and especially the manager (I assume, or maybe even the owner herself) de-escalated the situation. She took action just like a manager/owner of any establishment should and instantly made me feel so much better. She was such a sweetheart and took very good care of us - I cannot stress that enough - and I even gave her a hug because I was so thankful for what she did. I feel so bad I didnât even get her name, or the bartenderâs name, because I was still shocked about what happened. Despite the altercation with the other patron, I wanted to write this review to show my appreciation for the two incredibly kind and generous staff members that helped us out that night. As Newport locals, my friends and I often find ourselves thereânot only because itâs conveniently close, but also because we genuinely enjoy the wide variety of delicious menu options. That said, while the food continues to be a strong point, the environment leaves much to be desired. Iâve consistently found the staff to be unfriendly and unpleasant, which detracts from the overall experience. Itâs rare to encounter a team member who seems happy to be there, though I will say that one young manâpossibly a food runnerâhas stood out recently for his positive and welcoming attitude. His demeanor has been a refreshing exception to the widely held grouchy demeanor of the rest of the staff. More broadly, there seems to be a general lack of care among the staff, which gives the impression that the restaurantâs popularity allows for a decline in service qualityâ they know that seats will fill regardless. One particular incident this past winter stands out: I noticed vermin on a chair and brought it to a staff memberâs attention. Rather than responding with concern or an apology, they simply shrugged and walked away, which was disappointing. I understand that rodent issues can be difficult to manage in colder months, but some acknowledgment would have gone a long way.    Read moreWe were quoted a 40 minute wait and after literally 2 hours & 20 minutes our table still wasn't "ready". Granted, we were a party of 9 and I understand this is a big party as the place is rather small. But after being told a 40 minute wait we figured that wasn't bad at all and we'd go shopping some more while waiting.When 60 minutes passed with no updates, we checked back in with the host, to which she said it'll be another 25-40 minute. Ok...so we wait on that. 40 minutes pass and we call the restaurant to say it's been an hour and 20 minutes for an original quote of a 40 min wait. The host replied with 'Ok cool' and passed the phone to someone else, who then said it'd be "25 more minutes at least, or probably more". After 25 minutes passed I walked in again, and the table was still not ready! How is this even possible? I'm almost certain they allowed other people in which resulted in this delay. I never leave bad reviews because I myself have been a waitress and a host and I get things happen, but never have I told someone it'd be a 40 minute wait and 2 hrs+ pass and the table isn't ready. We then left and went elsewhere, but it wasted our time because I would've rather them say we can't accommodate you or something to that effect rather than wasting our time.
