The first thing you notice when you walk in is the sophisticated atmosphere and calming music. I liked the setup. The staff were all very welcoming and polite, too.

I got the kurokatsu lunch set ($16) and was pleased with the amount of food. I wouldn’t have paid $24 for this outside of the lunch special, though. Some of the flavors and textures like the miso soup and katsu are spot-on but other things like the rice weren’t exactly right. I thought it was weird that they served honey mustard sauce with the katsu instead of tonkatsu sauce like you’d get in Japan.

Another thing is that a few of the plates were cracked or chipped and the bowl the miso soup was served in was kind of faded which I thought was a little gross. Food particles can get stuck in the crevices of cracked dishes, they should probably throw that away instead of using it.

Overall it was a good, well-balanced meal and the service is really attentive but the food isn’t as perfect as it should be at this price point. There are places in Boston with better sushi that...

Best Japanese restaurant my wife and I have around Chestnut Hill.

The place can be a bit hard to find if you're already inside the mall. It's located inside Bloomingdales. If you're inside the mall, then just enter blooming dales and hug the left side corner. You'll find the entrance to Daikanyama. They typically have a tarp out, showing the menu.

I would highly recommend the Tempura. Any of them. Vegetable, shrimp, seafood tempura, all of them are great. They fry it to perfection. The only thing is that their tempura sauce tends to be on the bland and gingery side, but the overall taste blends well together. If you're on a budget, then make sure to head here for lunch as the lunch sets are, on average, $10 cheaper.

There is an abundance of free, open-air parking around the mall complex, so you'll almost never run out of places to park. 5 stars, can't...

Big disappointment! Planned to eat here for a special occasion after reading good reviews about welcoming, friendly staff and excellent food. Menu online looked appealing. Arrived around 3pm on a Wednesday. Many open tables and two servers. We liked the modern decor. Our server-who seemed rushed-was not the least bit friendly. My friends green tea burned his mouth and was too hot to drink for most of his meal. His Udon Noodles with Shrimp tempura had a nice tasting broth but was also too hot to eat for a while. My Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura was bland. It had no flavor. the sauce that came with it did nothing to improve the flavor. There was a lot more tempura than shrimp or vegetables. After asking for soy sauce -a few times- I tried adding that to no avail. it was just unappetizing. And expensive. We were charged for rice that was supposed to be...

We ordered many items from the menu, the only dish that tastes like Japanese food is the instant miso soup. The rice is not the Japanese short grain rice. It’s hard and not as sticky. The steak is not seasoned, just had teriyaki sauce pour over it. The medium rare steak is tough and cold. Tempura dish has the old oil smell. Raw fish appears dry. Even the radish is a mush of carrots. Service is rushed. The waitresses spoke so fast with a strong accent, we could understand only some of it. Go else where for Japanese food.
