I visited here several times because I liked their big portion and fresh food but today I was so disappointed by the food and service. My husband and I ordered seafood ramen and curry with pork katsu for lunch. The ramen was not bad but my husband found out that the curry paste?powder? didn't melt well and I also could see little paste chunks on the plate. So we called the server to ask if it is supposed to be. A chef came out and explained they are not using powder and it is freshly made, which was not the point, and she just went back to kitchen without any other words. We didn't like to argue so we tried to eat but this time we found out the pork katsu was undercooked. Some pieces are still pink in the middle so I called the server again to let them know their mistake. But he said 'what do you want me to do with it?'... what?? I was quite embarrassed and told him that I just wanted him to tell the chef about it. I wasn't sure if he told it to the chef or not but he didn't check it carefully by himself nor take the plate to show it to the chef so I couldn't hear any words, any apology. Was he supposed to say sorry first when I showed the pieces or at least, try to look at the pieces carefully to check it?? I felt really really bad and I will never go...
Read moreThis was a restaurant I go to every now and then for good quality food, but the latest dine-in experience was far from satisfying and the way they treat customer's feedback is unrespectful. With a big group, we ordered large bottles of Sake (750ml Kurosawa "Nigori" Junmai Sake, market price ~ 20 to 25 USD). It is understandably that restaurants charge 2x to 3x price on alcohols but we did not notice the price per bottle went up recently in this restaurant from 35$/bottle to 120$/bottle. It is in our opinion a little bit overpricing but the explanation was "it is imported from Japan", "we have valid liquor license", "we have been operating for past 22 yrs", honestly I see no correlation between any of the explanation and the fact it is overpricing. Knowing that we are accountable for not paying attention to the price, we left reviews just to remind other customers with their overpricing large bottles. The review since been deleted and reply from restaurant was dishonest - they have indicated that the price was addressed to the group prior to our ordering, which is completely not true. Just want to war those who values dining experience over food, pay attention to...
Read moreI just ordered a delivery from Sushi Man for my daughter's birthday tonight. I am stunned and horrified. The makis' are all unevenly cut, falling apart and the sushi rice is "wet". It even "dripped" when we picked up a piece. There lacks taste to the rice alone and that should NOT be the case with sushi rice. It's as if they forgot to season the rice and would explain why each maki is falling apart. "Sushi" means seasoned rice and this is not at all well prepared. I think all the makis' would make a better Chirashi (protein or vegetable over a bed of seasoned rice that is not formed). I've attached photos. I've called several times and the phone has been busy so I'll keep trying. I had my younger daughter place the order since I was wrapping birthday presents. I spent well over $60 for this atrocious food. I'll also add I am an immigrant from Japan. I know what I'm talking about! I was raised on Japanese food. This is a sad attempt to mimic Japanese cuisine. Shame on Sushi Man! ...
