Went with a friend who was visiting from out of state for Saturday morning breakfast and it was so delicious! The goal was for my friend to try scrapple and pokroll since she isn't from around here. So we decided to share everything;
eggs Benedict with spinach and pork roll. we replaced the Canadian bacon listed on the special and the eggs were poached perfectly! Chocolate chip and blueberry pancakes. these were so delicious and served square which was new to both of us! Side of scrapple. IMO the scrapple and home fries that were served with the bene could have been way more well done and crispier, even though we asked for well done.
I will definitely be going back for the pancakes!
Also, our server was helpful with menu selections and friendly!
Only interesting thing to note was the host took us to a table which was going the very cute window seat in the main room away from the entrance but quickly turned us around to take us to a table by the front when she saw that another guest would have to scoot in for us to get by. Once we got back to the entrance she was getting ready to seat us at the table closest to main entrance door and host stand, which I knew would become cold and trafficy with all the guests coming in and out… so I said to the host that I would rather sit in the other room, by the window, away from the door if possible and she said that she didn’t know how to ask the other guest to scoot in for us…… odd answer so, I taught her how. I just went up to the guest and politely asked if she could scoot in so we could get by and that was it, so easy! So we got sat down and had a lovely cozy / delicious breakfast...
Read moreStaying in town for a weekend and saw this breakfast place while walking around. I was at pretty quickly, which was great for a Saturday morning. I immediately ordered coffee and checked out the menu. The breakfast menu was mainly omelet options, with a few benedicts, pancakes, and french toast choices. I got the basic 2 eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast with a short stack of pancakes added on. I really wanted this place to be my "I had the BEST breakfast here" story, but sadly, none of it even came close. The coffee was not good. I don't know what I was hoping for, but seeing the small town has several coffee shops or places that boast coffee specials, I think I expected something more flavorful. My eggs were fine... cooked as requested. The potatoes were seasoned, but everything was unevenly covered and cooked. The bacon was... bacon. The pancakes were not good. They seemed undercooked or made with some kind of dry base that created a mealy-inside and not fluff. I think I was hoping for gorgeous buttermilk pancakes, and this was two yellowish circle-like shapes that kind of stuck together. Overall, everything was edible, but very disappointing and priced a bit high (6.50 for 2 pancakes). They did mention homemade jelly for purchase, and I believe that's what I was given with my toast. It was very, very good. I ate every bit of it (about an ounce) on my two slices of wheat toast. Maybe the lunch menu has some more desirable items. I don't think I'll be back...
Read moreMy husband and I were excited about this place because it was so good the first time we went— both the food and the service. Second time it was ok. Third time we took my parents and both the food and the service were awful. The server’s attitude was so terrible…completely apathetic and unapologetic that she had forgotten numerous items from our order, plus the food came out cold and much of it was inedible, didn’t even even attempt to make it right. So that was it for us. We’ll never come back. Too many places these days employing people with terrible attitudes. That to me is unforgivable in the service industry, even more so than food being subpar. Giving two stars for service and food for the good experience we had at our initial meal and the average experience for our second meal. But it would be zero stars for the...
