I used to love this place. I used to recommend this place to all of my friends and family. I continue to believe the food flavor is among the best in the area, but the customer service and lunch buffets have dropped off resulting in the 1 star review.

This review is specifically regarding the "All-you-can-eat Lunch Buffet" that they advertise, and their price differential between weekdays and weekends ($12 for weekdays, $14 for weekends). I have enjoyed their buffet quite a few times prior to this. I came in today (Sunday) at 1PM with my fiancé to enjoy their buffet, which showed that it had Ruby Crab Legs as a part of it (if you haven't had them they are pretty amazing). My primary reason for going on the weekend and paying the extra money was to be able to enjoy these. They didn't have any at the time we sat down, but the manager assured me more were coming. Around 10 people walked through the door and almost all the food from the buffet disappeared, and I noticed that they had restocked the Ruby Crab Legs. With 6 people in line, by the time I got to where they were being served they were pretty much out again, so I sat down and waited for more to arrive. 20 minutes later none had come out, so I asked the manager when more would be coming. She stated that they were no longer serving the Ruby Crab Legs with the lunch buffet. I exclaimed that they only reason I had come was for these, and she said I could order them from the menu. I stated that I had barely gotten any, waited nearly 40 minutes from the time of arrival to get some, and all she could say was sorry. I stated that this was completely and totally unacceptable, and I didn't think I should have to pay due to feeling bait-and-switched, but reluctantly paid anyways. No customer service was offered short of a "sorry."

For the third time, the soup was lukewarm at the buffet, and I also explained this to the manager who smirked at me and said "It's hot, but I make you fresh." She did follow through, but for whatever reason they have not addressed the fact that the heaters under the soups are not keeping the soup hot enough to be desired.

Stay away from this place, as they cannot seem to keep up with multiple groups of hungry customers, refuse to acknowledge that they need to raise the temperature of their soups, and conveniently remove the exclusive item to weekends...

Don't go here unless you are prepared to wait form over an hour for someone to take your order. We went there today because of good reviews. Place didn't have a lot of people. We got seated and then waited 1 hr for someone to take our order and would probably still be waiting if we didn't leave that place to go somewhere else. BTW it was Saturday night around 7pm. In one hour that we were there we didn't see any servers in the room. I never had such bad service! After 60 min of zero service we simply got up and left. I understand that food sometimes takes a long time to cook so if it took 50 min after they took our order then ok, however, this was not the case! We sat there for 60 minutes and NO ONE even came by to say hi, or to bring water or to take our order..... There was no apologies for running late.... There was no staff to ask what the world is going on? Everyone at the restaurant were treated like they weren't even there! I have no idea why other customers still were there? So after 60 minutes we simply got up and left. We then and went straight to a good Chinese restaurant I will not write its name so people don't think that I am here to damage "Ruby of Siam's "great" reputation. I usually don't write bad reviews because little things happen in every business now and then, however, this was not a little thing! It was REALLY BAD! So here is my advice, don't let the cheap prices lure you into this place - there is absolutely nothing that they are giving away in there, to have a nerve to treat their customers like this! Also later on I read in one of their reviews that few of their customers found a dark thick hair sticking out of their food as soon as they were served , that there was no apologizes , they didn't even offer to bring something else. After I read that I was so discussed that I am glad that we left . I would not eat their food for free even if I...

I work down the street so this has always been the go to restaurant for my family when we order take out.

Tonight I placed an order for us like usual & gave my phone number (they had my name already under my phone number as I order from there regularly).

I placed my order at 7:25pm & was told it would take 20 minutes.

At 7:45pm my mom went inside to pick up order order; the woman at the register told her a man already picked it up.

My mom questioned her saying no man in our family would’ve came to pick it up. The woman kept arguing back saying a man walked in, gave my SPECIFIC phone number & she gave him our order.

My mom explained the only man who knew we placed an order is my dad who is currently in the hospital; so there’s a 0 chance a man we knew came in to pick up our order.

The woman continuously argued with my mom trying to put it back on us that we made a mistake. At one point she even said I probably called the highland park store- but that was after she already told us a man picked up our order. So which is it?

My mom ended up walking out as it was frustrating enough & the restaurant should’ve just owned up to the mistake and call it a day. We wouldn’t have been upset if they could’ve just said “sorry, our bad” and moved on.

Either way; they lost a regular customer. Customer Service...

This place is a joke, I specifically called and asked do you use fresh chili, yes we do. So i ordered the food and when i showed up to pick up the food I look right away and found chili powder. I confronted her she says we only use for stir fry not noodle dish. So then why didnt you tell me that on the phone? She played dumb as usual and didnt say anything. I hate this place they always screw something up. Here is a good look at the picture of the food that they made spicy!! Terrible work they just dumped chili powder on 1 side of the dish. By the way I AM THAI!! Never will I come back. ****After your Response.... I DID ask for fresh chili and recieved none. For reference? Both dishes were supposed to be super spicy with fresh chili!! And No you did not make it spicy. After reading your reviews, you never take any ownership that you screwed up. Besides what kind of pad thai is white I'm sorry but that is a disgrace, it should be brown to orange!!

I recently visited Ruby of Siam for a meal, opting for their Pad Thai and a Thai Tea. Despite the restaurant not being busy, with the staff managing only a few to-go orders, my experience was less than satisfactory. The Pad Thai presented was notably bland, lacking in the essential tamarind flavor and, contradictorily, overloaded with sugar. Seeking to add some spice to the dish, I requested powdered chili. However, when I politely asked for the complete set of condiments, the response from one of the staff members was unexpectedly rude. Her demeanor changed significantly, and she even whispered in Thai under her breath, despite no one else being in the restaurant. It was perplexing and disappointing to encounter such an attitude as a paying customer. Based on this experience, I am compelled to say that this was the worst Thai food I’ve ever had, and I have no intentions of returning.

Very disappointed with the quality and the take out service! The mango in our sticky rice & mango dessert was overripe and rotten in parts (of course they knew it was rotten, the they had to skin and slice it)! 😠 We were almost out the door and we had to come back for the missing drinks they said were all in the bags. Not worth the travel time and especially not the $166.00 we paid today! ** Owner responds with an outrageous LIE saying nobody ordered that dessert that day (we ordered 3). Now why would anybody take the time to review, fib and stage a photo of the dessert?? Here is a copy of the charged amount we paid that day posted on the 27th since the 25th was a Saturday. New stock mango does not mean they're free from rot or pests inside the fruit! An apology and will do better next time from the owner would have been fine! Why LIE?
