We always enjoy the quality productions and interesting material that Northlight presents. However, its ticketing, subscription, and administrative services need help. There is no user-friendly way to contact Northlight by e-mail and the box office hours are very limited. Even if you manage to call during those hours (I guess everyone else is too), you are put on interminable hold. I've waited for 15 minutes, 25 minutes and 20 minutes on three different days.
Even renewing our subscription back in April was difficult, since Northlight quoted the wrong price for the wrong subscription package, and charged my credit card the wrong amount. It was a good thing that I caught the mistake on my credit card bill. When I was finally able to get through to Northlight via the North Shore Performing Arts Center, they were reluctant to correct the mistake and never apologized, even though the staff member acknowledged that since I was renewing the previous year's subscription, the performance day of the week and number of performances should not have changed.
I was further told back in April that subscription tickets would be sent at the beginning of August, but it is August 19, and nothing in the mail yet. The season starts on September 7, and it would be nice to be able to plan ahead, but I have tried unsuccessfully to reach Northlight on the phone. What should be a short quick question and answer phone call, ends up being a 20-25 minute wait without any resolution. My biggest disappointment is the online booking system through Ticketmaster. Northlight and Ticketmaster are unable to communicate with each other in the service of the customers. Each says they are bound by the other's policies/systems. We had thought about subscribing to this theatre but will think again in the light of this rather unfortunate experience. My only complaint is more for the audience than the theater. If you decide to go to a theater, please show some decorum! Act like you have been out of your house before.
