We stayed here the previous weekend and things went okay, which is why we re-booked for this weekend. This was an anniversary weekend away. Upon check-in we requested to be placed in the same area (floor/side) as last weekend but were denied and told the room we were being placed in was really nice. Upon entering the room, the temperature was about 80 degrees. We turned down the thermostat and turned up the fan. You cannot change the temp from hot to cold, only adjust the fan from low to high and change the thermostat. We found out the hard way that this does nothing. If the building has the heat on then you get heat blowing low or high. We went out for dinner and came back late to find the room still very hot. We opened the window thinking the temp will drop at night and cool down the room, plus it was very late to call maintenance and we wanted to go to bed. We had to close the window because the traffic noise on this side was very loud (there is a hospital nearby so you hear ambulance sirens going off). The cigarette smoke from the people outside started coming into the room too. Once the window was closed, the room heated up again even with the fan turned to high and the thermostat turned down as far as it would go (60 degrees). Therefore, I only had about 3 hours of sleep that night because it was so ungodly hot. Upon checkout, I let the front desk know of the problems and discomfort we experienced. The gentleman at the front desk was not sympathetic or helpful at all. He told me that the room we were in was in an older wing of the hotel and there is nothing they can do about it. When we told him we had no trouble before and asked to be placed in a different area but were denied at check-in, he just blew us off. He said he would pass my concerns on to his manager and he/she would call me back that day. No one called. I called back the next morning to follow up and was put on hold for over 10 minutes, switched around 3 times and put back into the queue for the main number. No one even came back on the line to say what was going on, they just left me on hold and pushed me back to the operator. A manager has never reached out to me. I have stayed at moderate hotels as well as higher end hotels and this is the worst customer service I have ever received, which is surprising for a higher end hotel. I will not stay here ever again. I can understand issues when temperatures change outside and that you cannot control everything but at least care and try to resolve the issue. They just want to get you away from the front desk and make false promises about contacting you. I think they place people who book from a 3rd party in an older part of the hotel and then treat you like your concerns don't matter. There are much nicer hotels out there with much better customer service and I will stay there and recommend them, but not this hotel. Doubletree is a double...

Prior to me getting to the hotel, I called and spoke with a gentlemen who told me early check in is an option with no fee after 10:00am if a room is available. I get to the hotel at 8:00 something almost 9 . The associate told me the fare would be equivalent to a full night stay so I was given the number to call after 10 . I called, no rooms available. At 11, I came back as I had left and went to the desk she said still no rooms. I noticed there were people coming and not coming back out. Once I observed this, I went back to the counter and I asked do they have some sort of special reservation because I noticed no one is coming back out. She told me they did have a different reservation or made prior arrangements . So, I asked ok does it cost more as I had a king bed and I never was given the option of paying more she told me " WE HAVE NO ROOMS AVAILABLE AND CHECK OUT IS NOT UNTIL 12." Of course , this upset me but I was too tired to even put up a fight. I went back outside told my mate what happened and he went in to try and get a resolution. As I came back in I noticed he was asking her for corpporate number she told him she didn't have and refused to give it to him but she was talking to him and told him total opposite and that she had gave me an option for a room.. I explained to her no and then before I knew it she YELLED out " So I am a liar." and she began to get loud. Eventually, I got upset as well and started taking offense. I was already the only melanated person there besides her. After she took my drivers license and snatched it out my hand, then things got heated. I even told her if I was a mystery boss or doing a secret shopper she would have been fired for her rudeness she was smacking, huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes. I started making racial remarks because I felt as such the people who came and never went out were Caucasian. This is not about color, but the fact that I had been there almost 2 1/2 hours and never was given the option to say hey I don't have this , but I have that and it took for her colleague next to her to take over and less then 15 minutes I was in the room is CRAZY. Oh, on top of all this, there was no manager on duty supposedly but she DISAPPEARED and never came back. I Apologize for making racial remarks I didn't call her out her name but I wanted her to know I am human, and have feelings and definitely felt a way. It could have been handled totally different. However, definitely should have been another way from HER and if she could not handle it she had a peer there next to her. FYI, her name was Ennis and the colleague who saw the whole...
Read moreWhere do I start? As many may know- located right across from this hotel is a hospital. After staying up all night with my dad after his major spinal surgery- I thought I would lay my head down for a little bit. I wish I never stepped into this place. I walked in and was the only one waiting and only one lady behind a desk not acknowledging I was there. Finally she called me up and asked my name after spelling it out a couple times. She was frustrated already at this point which is confusing because she was probably the same ethnicity as me. She asked for my ID , gave her my Hilton honors info and then proceeded to say “insert card”. I took out my Amex thinking it was for incidentals but she was charging me for a pre booked room. I explained very nicely that it should be pre booked for two nights and I used Expedia and her body language and tone was so ridiculously rude I was SO shocked. She told me I had to insert my card and pay or I can’t get the room. I told her of course I’d pay if I didn’t already have a receipt from the hotel and Expedia already- which she was not even trying to look at. After what seemed like forever of her eyes and whole face shaking when she’s talking to me I told her that she was very rude. She laughed and shrugged her shoulders and looked at the person behind me who just walked up. She told me that since I think she’s rude she cannot help me and I have to wait 2 hours for a manager and called up the lady behind me as my stuff is all still laid out on the counter. I called Expedia and Expedia called the front desk and she was so loud on the phone and yelling at them also. I was waiting in the waiting area waiting for a response for 30 minutes and went to another desk when I saw another lady and she didn’t call me up. A line started to form behind me and the original lady I spoke to had the nerve to call the person behind me up. As if I did something wrong? So I said actually I’m next and asked what’s going on? She again was unbelievably rude and she can’t help me causing a scene where the people all around me could hear. After a long drive from Wisconsin, staying up over 24 hrs with my sick dad in the hospital and no patience for this lady I walked away. Worst hotel staff. She had one job- customer service which she clearly could have done without her protruding eyes, hand gestures, body language and tone. Get a job somewhere else where you don’t have to interact with nice...
