Sabor Mexicano — Restaurant in Niles Township

I usually don’t post negative reviews, but this place was just not it.

A little context; I walked in late night and was greeted and handed a menu. As I went through their huge menu, a cook from the back yelled out an expletive in Hindi about me taking my time. It’s fine, I get it, it’s late night. I ordered five tacos; three quesabirria tacos and one steak and one gyro.

Let’s start with the quesabirria tacos. I only wanted to get one and was told I have to get three, no biggie. However, there was a biggie when I opened the box up. They barely had any cheese, the tortillas tasted stale and absolutely no flavor in the meat, like they didn’t cook it in the consume. The only highlight was the consume had flavor.

The steak and the gyro were ok, but for $4.50 a pop, they were also pretty disappointing. The steak was chewy and they share the same seasoning blend (if I was told this, I would have tried something else). The tortillas were again disappointing. I’m not sure what the taste was, but it just was an off-putting, lingering aftertaste.

In my opinion, if you were going to be a restaurant with Mexican cuisine, you have to bring authentic Mexican flavor. I didn’t get that here.

If you have birria tacos, the meat should be cooked in the consume for at least 4 hours and smothered a good quality cheese, not Mexican blend from Walmart. Personally, I won’t be going back...

I came here as a tourist looking for a taco spot. I ordered food hoping we would have a good experience. The worker was unsanitary he wore gloves and went to the next restaurant and came back with the same gloves touching door handles, counters, our money, card and touching our food. I tried to call the same night but they already closed by the time we got back to our hotel to try the food. It tasted old and moldy, the tortillas tasted like rubber tire. I am still trying to get a refund but the guy is claiming his boss is not allowing him to refund. Not being able to refund your customers for poor food handling and service should be illegal. I got very sick from this food just trying it, still feeling very sick. They are claiming I'm the only customer that is complaining about their tacos, that is false because there are several reviews online. The guy keeps claiming it wasn't him working and said the front people doesn't wear gloves and touch the food. That is not the case. Horrible service for first...

Sabor Mexicano - A Taco Lover’s Paradise! I had the pleasure of visiting Sabor Mexicano last night and they only do takeout service. Let me tell you, this place is an absolute gem for anyone who loves authentic Mexican food!

I ordered their Taco Dinner, which came loaded with 3 perfectly made tacos, a side of rice, beans, and their signature green sauce. The flavors were incredible—each taco was packed with juicy, tender meat that melted in my mouth. The green sauce added the perfect kick to the meal.

I also tried one of their Mexican drinks, and it was incredibly refreshing, a great complement to the meal. Besides tacos, they offer an amazing variety, including the best Zinger burgers, broasted chicken, wings, and more!

The service was impressively fast, making it a very easy experience for takeout. It’s a heavenly spot for taco lovers, and I’m already planning my next visit to try more of their menu, especially the broasted chicken. Solid 5/5 from me!
