I love bubble tea! But sadly this is not the place to go for it. I went there because I wanted to shop around the location and saw while looking on the google maps that there was this place right before I arrived to the shopping center. I come all the way from Hoffman Estates and always order at Coffee Haus, but I checked here the photos taken and was like "Ohh cute place!" thinking the bubble tea must be great as well. When I get there I see there was like only 3 people in line and thought "oh it's just like Coffee Haus, with a line waiting outside" but thought that they were open inside by now since every business has. That was only in the beginning when COVID just started that the businesses were closed for inside. They should definetly open to find a better way to get moving with the line (and hire more if needed) but with limited of people allowed to enter. (I think much better that way.) But while I waited in line they took FOREVER to make the drinks and to give to the previous people, being only the 3rd person in line I stood there like for 20 min! til I was able to order. I was on the run for shopping and only wanted a drink for myself. But atleast if it was worth it in the end I wouldn't have written a bad review. Nothing at all like my nearby place besides the hours, closing late til 12a.m. And I don't know about here but they use real fruit, all types at Coffee Haus. I ordered from here the rose bubble tea since that's a rare that my nearby place doesn't have. When I got the drink and drove off sipping it, it was HORRIBLE! I'm not joking, it was SUPER SUPER SWEET. This should not be right in ANY place, or actually legal. Now I have tried a bunch of rose flavored drinks, many kinds and I really love. Just hadn't tried in bubble tea form. But it was like drinking a load of sugar and then the side flavor of rose.I was very disappointed for sure. I don't think I'll come here again. First time and last, unless I get a re-do. But it was definetly upsetting since I was seeing the reviews of the photos and was excited to go there the next day and treat myself on my on-the-go shopping trip. Come from far away and to also pay for something I couldn't really drink and enjoy. Had to throw away the drink and it's rare when I don't finish something and defintely do not like what I pay for. A drink that for sure I would describe as "sugar poison." Something dangerously to drink and feel I can get diabetes after this ONE drink. Also they can cook better their tapioca. Not cooked well enough. Pretty hard from the get-go, was not squishy. Threw all away too ;( P.S. Btw writing this late after I got home and still cannot get the taste out. Like in the back of my throat all this sugar cause I really tried to drink but just couldn't. I really...
Read moreJust a correction, reference of Bubble Tea is either tea or milk tea based with or without bubba. Yes, u can buy bubba tea with out bubba.
The bubba at TeaRex is nice chewy and nicely flavored with sweetness. Unfortunately, all stores has it's up and down days for making bubba. The twice I tried are good with exception the second try was just a bit tad sweet. The flavor of the green and taro milks tea is not far from what would be sold in Taiwan. Avanlanch' s bubba is too soft for my taste and does not sell non-milk tea beverages.
Anything that is 'bubble tea' you can always ask them to adjust sweetness, my default is always half sugar and had ice. For Slushy, you can ask them to adjust the sweetness.
I asked them not to seal the cup for me and willing to pay for 2nd cup for my kids to share the slushy, they are willingly to split the slushy for me where other store in Evanston out right refuse to do (I was willing to pay). Fantastic customer service!!
This is a guys place for a quick bubble tea...
Read moreI used to come here at least weekly for a couple years, and always enjoyed what has to be the tastiest ice blended fruit bubble teas in the Chicagoland area. The assortment of beverages, both hot and cold, across countless flavors was incredible. The associates were always nice, the shop was always clean, and precautionary measures were followed to keep service open during COVID restrictions. Tea Rex drinks were always comparatively priced at a premium, but they seemed worthwhile.
Since 2021, prices at Tea Rex have increased by well over 50% for both regular and large sizes of their ice blended bubble tea drinks. Even providing for retail, supply chain, and broader economic inflation, the price increases have far outpaced other nearby shops and what I feel is reasonable even for an occasional treat, and I can't reasonably...
