We had an amazing experience at The Cupitol restaurant @cupitoltherestaurant in Skokie at the Old Orchard Mall.
The Cupitol is a casual restaurant with an elegant setting, excellent food, outstanding service, and dangerously good cocktails!
This was for dinner; breakfast and lunch are "counter service". You order at the counter and the food is delivered to your table.
Our appetizers were the Athenian Toast and the Yaiyias Meatballs. Both were amazingly delicious.
Our drinks were a Pineapple Tiki Tiki and Metaxa 1885 so refreshing and exhilarating!
Braised Lamb Shank. A meltingly tender shank that had me at hello. You can't help but stare at the presentation before the aroma takes over your senses .... and must dig in.
Served over a generous portion of whipped potatoes that sit on "bordelaise sauce" so rich you would want to order extra bread to lick every last bit off the plate.
Faroe Island Salmon Seafood lovers would appreciate the intense flavor of this salmon with a moist and flaky interior.
Prime New York Strip Steak A 12-ounce slice of meat lovers' heaven that was both succulent and delicate.
Don't overlook the pasta dishes. They are fantastic! Here's what we tried:
Paccheri pasticio Their take on this Mediterranean comfort food is amazing. Shredded beef that melts in your mouth is stuffed into large pieces of cannelloni pasta.
Prawns bisque linguine The rich and intense flavor of bisque is used as a sauce for these large shrimp. Served over a bed of linguine with a hint of sauce that feels surprisingly light.
And then comes dessert.....
The Basque Cheesecake here is so decadent, it's out of this world. The caramel-like exterior and silky interior need nothing else to melt my heart, however, it's served with butterscotch and pecans
The epitome of comfort food meets the elegance of fine dining at The Cupitol Restaurant!
We highly...
Read moreI lived in Chicago 24 years as well as worked in restaurant business for over 35 years. Visiting from Toronto for my son’s graduation I was looking for breakfast/lunch place the following day which happened to be Father’s Day. When I tried booking table on line it was showing no available tables from 10 am to 2 pm however I still wanted to try this place out and I took my chance of going there.
Place was clean, well organized and workers were attentive. On this day it was set up to order with cashier and food was brought to customers. Water station was set up on a side where you could get sparkling or flat water. The only thing that surprised me was auctioning food but that’s just my personal opinion. Maybe for extremely busy holidays that approach works the best.
I ordered smoothie which cashier recommended, double espresso of course, avocado toast, side of bacon and blueberry lemon pancakes. One of my son’s who joined me had croissant sandwich. I didn’t look if avocado toast came with egg, some places do it with while others don’t. It was perfectly made, chunky and not just as a spread, flavored just right. Pancakes were fluffy with good flavors. Smoothie was delicious and my son told me that his sandwich was fresh and tasty.
I love this place! I wish that there was a place like that in Toronto! It is fenomenal spot where you can enjoy your meal inside or outside and it fits everyone’s preferences...
Read moreWent for breakfast and the manager was very organized in ensuring we have a line for awaiting a table assignment. The concept that you are assigned a table, then you place your order and then they bring the food. The price point for essentially self service (you want water, you go to the station and get for yourself; have to also get up to find someone to bring ice and / or I suppose if you needed anything else). So in the concept of essentially self service, I’m not sure why the food is so expensive and then defaulting to an 18% tip. Am all for mixed self serve / dine in but have to have a QR code or some way to be able to get help (eg if you’re there with a child but can’t leave child unattended?)
Commenting on the limited service that does exist: young kid taking order behind the counter was incredibly polite. Food came out quickly and with a smile.
Food quality: no doubt is 5-stars. Absolutely delicious - from baked goods to avocado wrap to Mac n cheese. Hot chocolates were expensive for using water instead of milk (therefore a bit bland).
Overall think this place has a lot of potential. It’s clean, bright and buzzing. The food is incredibly tasty and of good variety. Need to get down this mixed self serve concept and I think will...
