DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE To start, the manager and owner don't care about you, only your money. I've had three separate incidents with this place, and each one has gotten worse. Around 4 months ago, a drunk customer repeatedly made advances on an underage friend of mine and was reported to the staff. A security guard by the name of "Earl" told us it wasn't his problem and that it wasn't a big deal, our friend was harassed and had been physically grabbed several times by the older intoxicated man, while they seemed more interested in protecting than confronting. Less than a week later the same older man returned and did the same thing to another woman at the bar, again, no action made by Whiskey River "security". From December 2024 to March 2025, the AC ducting and ventilation had visible black mold growing on the undersides of the metal, and even began to drip discolored water onto the ground, table, railing, and mechanical bull pit. When confronted with the problem, a female manager with short scruffy grey hair and tattoos told me I was crazy and needed to leave. Now, there is mold growing in the sink where you can get water, in the men's bathroom around the sinks and toilet, which often has no paper towels or soap and broken faucets and bathroom stall doors. Then another month later I was kicked out at the door after being accused of having a fake ID and was told I was too young to be at a bar and that California law made it illegal for me to be there (It doesn't and they often let underage girls in on +18 and +21 nights) or selectively charge for entry or check IDs. Then, after advertising that entry before 6PM was free, I was threatened and yelled at by both the grey-haired manager and "Earl" the big and bad security guard, after they asked me to pay $10 and I pointed out that their own advertisement said differently. This is extremely disappointing as I've been coming to this establishment for well over a year, and longer than most of the frequent dancers have been going, have gotten to know many of the bartending staff and DJs who have all been kind, but their own higher ups will be the downfall of this place. It is safe to say I will never return to this place until management and ownership changes....
Read moreAs someone who has line danced all over California, Texas, and Georgia for the last year, I had high hopes about this place. I have family friends who spoke highly of it. But I can’t in good faith recommend it when there’s so many better ones out there. For starters, the line dance instructor Piper is extremely rude and close minded. She stands in the front the entire time, and then assigns wall leaders instead of walking to different parts of the dance floor while everyone is learning the dance. She even forgot steps and had to go back and teach us. While taking a break, I was showing someone in the back a move she’d demonstrated from the front, and she snapped at us and said “Don’t ask your friends, they don’t know anything, so you need to ask me.” How about you move to the back and show us so I don’t have to do your job for you?? And every 10 minutes she reminded us she was from KFROG. Congrats, you’re a local celeb, want a cookie? If I had to take a shot every time she reminded us she was part of KFROG, I wouldn’t have been able to drive home tonight. Multiple people left the dance floor during her lessons because she was so belittling and berating. She could remember to tell us she works for KFROG, but couldn’t remember what line dances she was playing and repeated 3 dances (Redneck Angel, Take it Off, and Copperhead Road) in a 30 minute span. How about taking some requests, or playing more of a variety? Thank god for the band, because they actually listens to requests and were very engaging. On top of that, the AC is extremely poor and pretty much nonexistent. So pack a fan or prepare to sweat a TON. This place just got remodeled, and I was hoping with other locations closing and this one getting a facelift it would be way better, but it’s a tragedy. The only perk is there’s free self serve water. Oh also, it’s cash only, $5 or $10 depending on what time you get there so pay cash or prepare to pay a stupid ATM fee. Honestly, go somewhere way better like Montanas in San Dimas or Cowboy Country in Long Beach. Don’t spend your time supporting little KFROG...
Read moreMy friends and I have been coming here for about a year and a half for social dancing, but recently the establishment has been on the decline. Some months back, they started charging for entry when it used to be free--fine. However, on their Instagram page, they advertise that entry is FREE if you are at the door before 6 p.m. The DJ typically doesn't come on until 7 p.m., so this is a good way to encourage people to come in before the big crowds start showing up. Recently they've been giving some friends of mine a hard time, and today I experienced it for myself. I got to the door with some friends, and the incredibly rude manager said "$5." I told her and a rude security guard that that wasn't right because the Instagram post said free entry before 6 p.m. (The reason I was showing up before 6 p.m. in the first place was for free entry.) She told me that there was a communication issue between her and the social media coordinator. She then started swearing and talking bad about the social media coordinator (who is also the DJ and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet) behind her back. I told them that you can't falsely advertise one thing and then change the price at the door, at which point the old security guard said "Excuse me!" in a feisty tone, and the manager said "You're working on not coming in here tonight!", threatening to turn me away for arguing with them. They then asked me if I wanted to come in or not, so I begrudgingly paid the money and went in.
These actions directly violate California Business & Professions Code §17500 on false advertising, and §17200 on fraudulent and deceptive business practices. It's not about the money--it's the principle matter behind it. And you NEVER treat your customers like that.
Not cool, Whiskey River...
