This will be lengthy. Not a fan of the Waffle House. This visit was by far the worst I've ever experienced. The young lady waiting our table had a MAJOR ATTITUDE with us and I'm not sure why. We made our order and my father-in-law (and I) asked for our drink to be brought with our meal. I also asked for a cup of coffee. No problem there. When my coffee arrived, it was warm and the waitress didn't bring coffee creamer, so I watched and waited for my creamer (which should have came before or right after my coffee) for about a minute. All this while the waitress talked with other customers and co-workers. When I asked for my creamer, she said she is gtg it and kinda rolled her eyes. So, no worries. When she brought the creamers, I had coffee. While waiting for the food to arrived, I'm just scanning the workers and how things were going. I observed workers arguing among themselves and several of them with attitudes - including a "supervisor". The waitress brought my father-in-law his drink and he asked was his food ready, to which the waitress said "not yet" and he reminded her he wanted his drink with his food. So she asked was he going to drink it and he said "No". So she took the drink and rolled her eyes as walked off. I saw her. Now she brings our food. My food came with a waffle that didn't arrived when she brought my food, so I waited....again. After about 1 min, I asked about my Waffle and she said "I'm gtg it." When it came and I noticed the syrup container had old drippings on them. After dressing my Waffle and eating the first bite, I noticed it was not fully cooked in the middle so I asked for the Mgr. When he showed up I explained all to the manager I was experiencing. He ended up taking the cost of the Waffle off our order. Our waitress NOT ONCE asked if everything was okay or did we need anything. She did to the customers in front and in the back of us. By this time, I had determined she was NOT getting a tip. While awaiting the check, an argument broke btwn the co-workers ("supervisor and waiter) and they almost were fighting until the manager stopped them. By this time I'm done and couldn't wait to leave. From my perspective, this visit was AWFUL. My in-law and I discussed this on the way home. Ne8ther of us could come up with a reason our waitress had such an awful attitude but we both left her with NO TIP - LOL. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE unless they get better workers who respect the people they are serving. ...

Tonight it was filthy. The counters, the floors, the tables. There were dirty dishes left on tables. There was one cook and one waitress and not a single customer came in while we were there. The waitress could barely move so she sat around a lot and didn’t bother to clean up any of the messes. She even ordered food when she placed our order with the cook and she got her food first. She left her dirty dishes on the counter after she finished eating. She stood at the juice machine and poured a cup of juice for herself, stood there and drank it and refilled her cup. Even if they are allowed to drink unlimited amounts of juice, they should not stand at the juice station to drink it. Our food was OK except for the hash browns which were so burnt we couldn’t eat them. Even the onions were burnt black.
My review from 7months ago: Best Waffle House in Hampton Roads! We know our Waffle Houses and this one is excellent! You know it’s different right away because the manager and team all smile, not just at the customers but each other. The food was so good because the cooks actually know how to make the famous Waffle House hash browns correctly. I had given up on ordering hash browns at waffle houses in Virginia Beach and Norfolk because they are so oily and gummy but not here! They are cooked crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside. We like grilled onions in ours and this location actually cooks the onions so we don’t get that raw onion taste like other places...
Read moreThis was hands down the best Waffle House experience I've ever had. Our server, Skyler B. was so awesome. He was friendly, fun, attentive, and fast! Skyler was proactive in getting providing us waters, sauces, and recommendations. He was honestly just SO pleasant to chat with!!
My 8 year old daughter loves sitting at the counter, and we were dancing and singing along to the music playing with the rest of the staff and kitchen crew. From the counter I was able to see all the going-ons. It was great to see how clean everything was! I observed the staff communicating efficiently for all the orders, and greeting everyone as they came in. It was also really nice to see the crew doing their morning huddle; I could over hear the manager giving acolades to someone for performing well and the rest of the crew cheering them on.
We weren't there very long, maybe 30 minutes, but it was the perfect start to our Sunday! It's too bad we're just visiting from out of town (all the way from Mississippi) or we would make coming to this waffle house a regular occurrence. We like to go to the Waffle House near us in Meridian once a month as a tradition, and it's not nearly as fun, clean, or welcoming as this location.
Keep up the good...
