Not a review but rather an experienced response to the owners bold and aggressive claim that feathers "burn off" in the deep fryer.
That is utterly and totally false.
Smaller feathers "may" disintegrate (not burn), but a simple search on the internet brings up plenty of examples and images of chicken feathers fully cooked in a deep fryers from numerous chains that did not "burn off".
And if the owner thinks he is going to aggressively challenge my assertation of this fact, he best be prepared to prove it in my presence and in front of a live streamed audience. Why? Because I know better.
I've worked in plenty of different eateries and dining establishments over the course of a decade as a line cook and I have seen this very thing happen first hand on several occasions.
Anyone who has worked with deep fryers and chicken could also tell you the same thing. See photos below for examples.
It happens and to purposely lie to customers to cover up an establishments lack of attention to detail and say it doesn't is wrong. Period. It also speaks volumes about the owners integrity and trustworthiness.
Owners that care about their patrons and their fare seek answers on how they can do something better.
Those that don't badger or bully patrons that found something about the establishment lacking like this owner is doing.
And that should be the only red flag any prospective patron needs to...
Read moreThe food is all pre-made, so everything is served quickly; this leads to a problem when you order an appetiser expecting to be able to, you know, eat it at a leisurely pace and then thirty seconds later your entrées are delivered. Who eats like that? Appetisers are a first course; don’t offer them if you’re going to immediately serve the meal. Nobody eats an appetiser and a main course at the same time.
Our server vanished and then reappeared when we were about ten minutes into eating and asked if we wanted boxes and a check. No offer of drink refills or anything. In total, we’d been seated for approximately twenty minutes — no exaggeration. We took the hint, left the food, paid the check, and left.
Never again. The food was what you’d expect from pre-made food that’s been sitting. We all had indigestion a few hours after. Their “famous” bean dip is watery, the lettuce is limp, and overall there was nothing notably pleasant about anything; it was just slightly below average food. There isn’t a large selection of Mexican food, just some combination plates and some a la carte items, then hamburgers and American food. There’s nothing that any of us...
Read moreConviently located in walking distance from my hotel. Recommended by front desk. Took awhile to be seated. Once seated service was swift, server very attentive with checking on and refilling drinks. Food came out fast. Great value. Portions were very big. Neither of us could finish. We ordered combination #1 tamale, taco, Tostada #2 burrito, tostada came with rice beans lettuce tomato sour crean on the side. Plates and food were hot. Had a strawberry margarita. Was hoping for chips and salsa. Arrived right after a rush. Alot of tables tops were not bussed and floor was a mess. Also noticed checking out was a process. Line moved slow and took sometime. I think it was just due to older equipment where you punch in the amounts on register vs the newer electronic POS type machines. Found cool decor on wall what looked like old candy boxes and some other neat stuff. Overall good place to sit down and grab a...
