Only You — Restaurant in Norfolk

I want to preface by saying this place has exceptional music and a beautiful atmosphere. The food is also really good and reasonably priced. The drinks are a bit overpriced and are not that good. The drinks are strong, but there are only one or two drinks on the menu that don't taste bad. Now here's the part where I address the service. I get that working in a service position can be stressful, and customers can be nasty. However, the service here is abysmal. The workers (minus security, they're great) act like they do not want to be there. Going up to order is stressful because they act like you're inconveniencing THEM for wanting anything. I have had a negative experience here where I had to assert that I wanted to order because I was being ignored. At the risk of sounding like a hater, the staff seems to take themselves way too seriously. You have to know somebody to be treated with some sort of respect. There is one bartender (not sure if they work there anymore) that was super nice, he is great and this doesn't apply to him. Everyone else doesn't care if you're friendly, you get treated exactly the same every time - with coldness. I never feel welcome in this establishment and hope that another lounge like this with friendlier staff opens up...

We heard good things about this spot, and came by for dinner with friends. The space is gorgeous, but is clearly set up to primarily be a bar, not a restaurant.

There are only small 2-top circular tables. We had two side by side for our group of 4, but it was a bit awkward to share appetizers. I joined the group a couple minutes late, after they’d ordered their first round of drinks & apps. The server came to take my order, but then left before taking the dinner order for the rest of the table. I guess they thought the other 3 people were sharing the charcuterie as their meal? Someone had to get up and find them at the counter to tell them the rest of the group was ready to order as well.

The cocktails were delicious - well mixed and great flavors all around. The food was tasty, but our group agreed it was quite expensive for what it was.

Overall, I would recommend this as a great spot for drinks & snacks, but...

This new and refreshing spot has the potential to be it! Tucked away on the 2nd floor of the Veil, Only You offers its very own atmosphere and ambiance. You’ll quickly realize you’re not just at a brewery anymore with the low key feel and intimate vibes found here. With an exceptional cocktail menu (I tried 6 different cocktails) the Veil has much much more to offer. Excellent service that brings a very friendly atmosphere to the restaurant. Huge shoutout to Jay and Amanda for the extra special service. For what they offer…exceeding expectations to say the least. With fresh and complex flavor profiles that you expect to find at a renowned upscale restaurant, Only You is seeking to make a name for its self. I found my new hidden spot, Only...
