Smokin Stan's BBQ — Restaurant in Norfolk

I first went there because of all the great reviews I read on Yelp. When you walk in the place looks cozy and they have some nice decorations on the walls. Maybe we were there on an off day but the person who greeted and attended us was not only not friendly at all but was not helpful at all with helping us make our selection. Pretty much her attitude was take it... Or not??... Don't care... Didn't want to relay food info or flavors or anything, no smiles or nothing. One of the things that really attracted me was that the cook was from Texas. (I'm a southern boy bread through and through and know good BBQ) To my surprise the brisket was way too dry and flavorless, the ribs tasted like they boiled them then smoked them plus they were dry, tough and flavorless. The only thing my daughter and mother liked was the Cole slaw and the beans were ok. The bread was store bought even. All in all... As excited as I was. It was the worst BBQ I've tasted around here in years. Worst $60 I've spent on...

We stopped here today for the first time and the smoke smell outside draws you in. The woman server at the counter when we came in was very friendly and gave us menu's and told us how to order. Another woman in the kitchen was also very nice. Both makes you feel welcome. I ordered the brisket sandwich meal with a side of baked beans. It was great, tender with great flavor, no sauce was needed. My wife ordered the mini mini nachos meal with a side of slaw. It was fantastic. You can order this as nachos, mini nachos or mini mini. She was happy because even the mini mini is a lot of food. The inside was spotless. Great people with great food. Only disappointment is that we live 112 miles away. We will drive back...

I had really high hopes. The 2 ladies working were super nice and helpful. The small indoor and outdoor areas were cute and very clean. I got the OMG potato. I wasn't very impressed. Who puts beans on a baked potato? My son got the Sampler ribs were great but the 2 sliders were just meat and a bun. There were 3 different bar b q sauces on the table, but they all tasted the same. He wanted Mayo on his sliders but when he asked for some they said they didn't have any!?!?! My daughter got the nachos and didn't even eat a quarter of them she said they were gross. All in all I would have to say I wouldn't eat...
