I never like to leave a bad review, but we’ve hit a limit with our last few visits to Yorgo’s. The customer service at the counter is routinely some of the worst we experience in the area. The guy taking our order is quite rude and has an attitude that seems like he’d rather be anywhere except taking orders at a bageldashery. Never a nice greeting, no confirmation of the order, and he has messed up our order nearly every time we visit. When we asked for our bagels to be cut, he dismissively said, “I don’t know if they’ll do it.” Maybe it’s just me, but such a simple request should be quite easy for a kitchen staff who is slicing hundreds of bagels every day.
When we got to our table we saw that once again, he typed in the wrong items for our order. Somehow our order of a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese and bacon became an everything bagel with turkey sausage and cream cheese, not toasted. When we went back to the counter to get our order corrected, the cashier sighed and told the kitchen staff, “she doesn’t want the turkey sausage anymore.” It wasn’t that I didn’t want the turkey sausage anymore, I never order turkey sausage in the first place! Luckily the young lady who was bring out the orders was very helpful and quickly corrected the cashier’s mistake.
It seems like the rest of the staff is used to stepping in to correct these kind of errors. It’s very telling when the other staff members make subtle indications that the cashier is a regular source of contention with customers.
Overall, the food was still tasty, but the unwelcoming cashier and the continual errors with our orders have left us very dissatisfied.
Hopefully the management will see this review and look into their...
Read moreToday I came into this establishment, it’s one of my favorite places in Norfolk. I was number 384 and my bill was about 75 dollars. I ordered a chicken salad bagel for my husband, my son got the vegan Philly cheese steak bagel and my daughter got a Vegan Philly on a wheat wrap. I went for the vegan pulled bbq on a wrap. We grabbed 2 raspberry oat bars and the kids got drink, my husband and I got potato salad as a side. I grabbed a roasted pepper soup for my dinner because as I said I love this spot. While we waited for the food my kids and i split a raspberry bar and it was delicious. As soon as I left we headed straight home to eat. As we all went in for our first bite, everyone was smiling but me, my wrap was extremely salty! I asked my husband’s opinion and he agreed it was salty. I went to call them but it was so close to 3 pm i was sure they closed. I sat back down with my family and opened my potato salad and it was extremely oniony. The potion is very small but I tasted my husband’s and he tasted mine and we agreed that somehow my potato salad was filled with green spices and onions and somehow his didn’t have the same flavor. My soup was in the refrigerator so I spent hours drinking water to clear my pallet. I heated up my soup for dinner and it tasted as if someone had poured kombucha in it!!! It is foamy and tastes as if it’s fermented! I ate a vegan grilled cheese I made at home but I have been sooooo disappointed that the spot that I pushed my family to go to messed up everything I ordered today… the are usually really good and I love the fact that they have vegan and non-vegan options but today the food was very different from the quality of foods I am used to...
Read moreDuring normal times, Yorgo's is a treat to my family and I on Sunday mornings. For years we have had the best of service. However, I visited there recently, during the pandemic, to find have the worst customer experience. I was thankful to see many COVID precautions put into place including the enforcement of masks; however, when trying to place my order, I needed to adjust my mask in order to keep it over my nose and mouth. The young man taking my order started raising his voice at me that I need to stop touching my mask and that I have to keep it over my nose and mouth. When I tried explaining what I was doing, he kept became short with me, refusing to hear me out. When I stopped adjusting my mask and it started coming off my nose due to me trying to talk to him, he stopped taking my order, and in an aggressive & loud manner, demanded me to keep my mask on.
I will continue to visit Yorgo's because this one encounter and this one employee do not define this great local business, but perhaps they need to provide training on how to communicate with people. During COVID, we are all incredibly stressed out and overwhelmed. The one day a week I actually get out of my home to experience a simple comfort of getting bagels from a favorite place ended up turning into a humiliating and...
