If it wasn't for our server Jackson, I would give this a 1 star or maybe no star. Alexander's Steakhouse standards have slipped a lot over the years. I had family come over from England and I told them how great this place was, so I took them there. Omg how much Alexander's standards have slipped at the one in Normal. My nephew and I ordered the Porterhouse steak at $56 each and my great nephew wanted a hamburger. We go to the refrigerator and and no Porterhouse steaks were there and no hamburger. I had to wait about 5 or 6 minutes to get someones attention. Finally I found someone, and he brings out 1 Porterhouse steak and I told him with need another one, so I had to wait another 7 to 8 minutes to bring another out. We get to the grill and no baked potatoes ready. So I asked another person when are the baked potatoes coming out. Had to wait 8 minutes for them to bring them out. Then my great nephew order fries for his hamburger and the manager told us to let them know we were ready for the fries it only takes them about 2 to 3 minutes is what we were told.So we did and we are waiting around for about 10 minutes and no Fries. So I had to go to the bar and asked where are my great nephew fries. After all this I was upset. Spoke to the manager Camden and he said well I give you a free skillet cookie. I told him I just eaten a big steak and I couldn't eat a skillet cookie. I felt like he was just passing me off and he just made what I felt like silly excuses for the issues. Also where the plates were stacked up for customers to use, the tablecloth was very dirty, but they had a sign above telling customers to use a clean plate for cooked meats. If people read this post. Read moreMy sister and I wanted to celebrate our birthday with steaks! We decided to go to Alexander’s in Normal on our bday. We were super excited to learn they were open for lunch on Saturdays. We had not been there in a number of years and it looks like the dining room has not been updated in a number of years. Carpet, table, chairs were outdated. The dinning room was dimly lit and not very inviting. We were one of three tables in the entire restaurant and the service was excoriating slow. First they sat us right next to another table which was odd because the restaurant was empty. It took forever for our server to serve us for drinks, to check on us, to get us refills, to bring our appetizer, to bring our food, to check on us throughout meal, and bring us the check. It was just in a word disappointing. Our steaks were cooked to order and baked potatoes were good too. My sister and I added shrimp skewers to our filets. The shrimp were not edible and way overcooked very rubbery and impossible to eat. We did let the server know and they were taken off our bill. The dinners come with one trip to salad bar. The salad bar had some of that lettuce leaf’s that were brown in a huge bowl and we had to pick around it. The restaurant had just opened so you think someone would have removed the brown lettuce leafs before setting it out for diners. The other items on salad bar seemed fresh and tasted good. If you go on your bday you get $10 off your steak which is a good deal!! Overall, it was just an ok dining experience for the price point and lack of...
Read moreThe price doesn’t match the cut and quality of the steaks. I’ve been to several steakhouses around this price range with far better cuts of meat. My wife and I shared a 16oz ribeye and paid an additional $15 just to get an additional salad bar (which is very limited) and a baked potato. The steak comes out…I was gonna send it back but we were hungry as we waited quite a while to get it. It seemed more like a NY strip than a ribeye. It was a little chewy and there simply couldn’t be much marbling in that cut and it was a little dry. I also asked for medium-well some pink and it was more on the well done side. I was also under the impression they would cut the steak as a courtesy since we were sharing. Nope! They brought it on one plate and sat it in front of my wife. They brought my plate with a little dried up baked potato on it and sat it in front of me. The restaurant itself is a little older as well. Reminds of Bonanza from back in the day. If you want a good steak I wouldn’t come here. You can probably get just as good a quality at Longhorn, Logan’s or Outback. It was a busy Friday night and service was incredibly slow as well. The ability to cook your own steak is unique and a selling point for eating here. But you can get the same or better results getting a prime cut from your local butcher and firing...
