Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Normal

poor, are server was off duty, so all she wanted to do is get our drinks, which i understand, so we proceeded and also gave her our food order and a tip, there was a group of waitress huddling around in the waitress station, our on duty waitress was late for her shift, we did not tip her, she did nothing, my friend had ordered a meal that comes with a side, she chose cottage cheese, 1st plate had been cross contaminated with some other foreign particle, she sends it back to yet another bad cottage cheese. Milkshakes were not frozen as if they sat in window for a long period of time, my hamburger was so greasy i thought i may be able to run a small engine on. fries were cold. We left as soon as we were done. No, we did not finish any of it, couldn't. Now on another note, I have been to all the other local steak n sheaks here in e. peoria, morton, and peoria, The best one to go and should be recognised is east peoria. Great food Great Service, Great timing! Great Staff! I usually go in in the evening and ever since i was in highschool (i'm 30 Now) This waiter has been there his name is John. He is truly one of your hardest workers in the franchise! So i will only go to the E.peoria or morton il. Steak an shakes, those ones seem to have the least problems! Thank you, for your great food (most of the time :) ) And I cant wait for my next trip to E. Peoria...

I guess I have to give them one star to be able to write what a terrible experience this location is. Our server was obviously on something she was completely spaced out. after we sat there for 10 minutes wondering if we should just get up and leave, she came over and took our order for drinks three water then we waited another 10 minutes for our Water while I watched her wipe down menus and wander aimlessly through the dining room then came back and said oh I'm sorry what did you guys want to drink. When we finally received our order my chili that always comes before the entrees wasn't there and I had to remind her about that and my wife's plate had old cheese from a previous order still stuck to it and a big fingerprint on it. Told her I wanted another burger for my wife so they just sent back the same Burger and tried to wipe the old cheese off the plate disgusting. My food was ice cold by the time I got to it after they finally brought my bowl of chili. I will credit the manager she comped our order, was very helpful, and attentive when we brought it to her attention, but we won't ever be back to that location again as I've noticed another waitress on our previous visit she wasn't our waitress, but she was also high on something too, it...

Absolutely terrible experience. I and my girlfriend went here for homecoming because it was the least packed place, and when we showed up we stood there for 20 minutes waiting for a seat while having counted out 8 open booths. There were me, my girlfriend, and 4 others with us. After about 20 minutes of waiting, and group of 3 females walked and, and they were immediately sat. The lady came up to me and asked us how many there were, and when I said 6, she said there would be a 45 minute wait. When I explained further that we had already been waiting 20 minutes and should have been seated 1st, she replied with they have less people. Anybody who knows anything about anything, knows that if you show up 1st to a restaurant, you get seated 1st period it's not like we had a huge group, there were few enough people that we could have sat and then served. This lady refused to seat us regardless of their being open booths. On top of this, there were multiple employees standing around in the kitchen not doing anything at all. Oddly enough, the manager was unavailable for comments...
