The Deli — Restaurant in Norman

Very random lil place man alive do they need a remodel!!! I have only been a handful of times on a sunday and during the summer so it wasnt super busy. I do hear it gets packed when school is in. EXTREMELY RANDOM AND DIVERSE CROWD so if your a people watcher this place is for you lol Very dark torn up furniture a true hole in the wall kinda place but if your into that kinda thing this place is for you. Limited seating and no real dance floor but the center of the bar area has been left vacant for people to dance and they do. All in all just not a place I would ever recomend. Oh but there is a colorful soul named Hosty that will sing you a specialized birthday song he makes up on the fly based on a list of various characteristics given to him by your friends that's actually kinda cute. The Deli is one my two favorite dive bars in Norman, OK. I go there for the live music, the incredible shrimp tacos from the taco truck (Taco Villa) parked across from the Deli, and the cheap drinks.

The resident band Biscuits and Gravy plays every Thursday and they are exceptional, usually a combination of a couple of regular musicians supported by guests. It is all about rock and roll, red dirt, occasional country and a general love for love music from the local community.

It is very packed on the weekends (Fridays and Saturdays) during the college season due to the proximity of OU, and the bands that are playing usually have a large following, for such a small place.

It is “hole in the wall” with a great a personality and love for local musicians. A “must experience” for anyone who wants to discover...

I attended to enjoy music and poetry this evening. The entertainment was great, but the bartender was rude and hateful. The beer she served tasted like vinegar, and the soda co2 was out. When my guest told her the beer was bad, she scoffed and thrust a bottle of beer at her and screamed, " HERE ". I told her I was concerned that if anyone else bought a tap beer they would too have a bad beer, and she became hostile and screamed that she would take care of it. This worker has issues, and anytime I go to enjoy music or poetry at The Deli, because I def will, If she is working I won't be spending a dime....
