Now that I've had some time to reflect on my most recent trip to Norman, Oklahoma - I want to share the incredible experience my wife and I had at Tribes Gallery.
This isn't your run-of-the-mill gallery.
Upon entering, walls are adorned with original native people’s art, including sculptures and tribal-specific items. One could get lost in this gallery, or shall we say museum, with the intricacy and detail of each piece. I was honored to see the great work of Harvey Pratt and Carl Sweezy and notably felt a sense of connection with these two artists (Hinono'ei). Throughout the gallery, there are hundreds of pieces, mostly original. One could quickly lose track of time marveling at and appreciating the beauty and colors chosen to create these one-of-a-kind native peoples’ art. After a while, you get a sense of the style each artist determines and the personalization they have with their work. It's genuinely a fantastic store.
Let us get to the true gem of this location - Leslie!
Leslie, you were the most gracious host for our time in your store; what a rarity to find someone genuinely kind and knowledgeable about native people’s art and the artists who have provided their work. We shared so much during that HOT afternoon; time slipped by us without notice. Thank you for the hospitality. Thank you for the calendar (and the bag of goodies). More importantly, thank you for sharing the moment, the human connection, with you specifically.
I hope to see you during my next visit...

You have 0 rights to treat someone like that and I'm sure the camera would have caught your bigotry, and WOW, B, the arrogant and agressive attitude was exceedingly ignorant! REALLY, I was very good at making an exit all on my own, and , yeah, someone has to get your attention to unlock the door or you DO KEEP IT LOCKED! I went a couple stores down and bought a bike cap, no problem at all there! Must be fat B's...
