Athenian Fresh Grill — Restaurant in North Arlington

I usually never write reviews because I have other things to do with my time. However, my experience today has my blood boiling. To start off I just wanted to thank the trainee in making my delicious bowl, he was great and cooperative.

On other hand,,,,, the manager is horrendous. When my father and I walked in we ordered shrimp and pita bread right away for his salad so we didn’t have to wait. I thought that would’ve been a smart idea. Though, several people that came in after me received their food AND paid while I was waiting PATIENTLY for my father’s shrimp. Then I overheard that the shrimp wasn’t even thrown on the grill after waiting for about five minutes.

Now, I understand people make mistakes however, the manager today didn’t even apologize not once and had a nasty attitude the entire time. She went on to say “it takes time to grill shrimp.” Uhhhh,, I think I know that… that’s not what we were mad about. They simply just didn’t listen to us because they’re very unorganized. Then, after about 5 people pay and leave before me. My food is finally finished and my pita bread was not in the bag. No sorry from the manager, nothing.

Now, I work In customer service and I understand how hectic it can really get in restaurants like this. Though, we were never told sorry, only by their trainee who had absolutely nothing to do with it. But I was still very disappointed that I was given an attitude the entire time by the manager- who is definitely incompetent. I’m disappointed to say that I will never be going to this spot again because of how hectic and unprofessional it is here...

WOW! That’s the first word that comes to mind when I think of Athenian Fresh Grill. When it comes to their customer service, to their cleanliness, to their location, to their food, and to their staff, the only word that does it justice is wow. They are so incredibly nice to the customers. They have an amazing loyalty program to build up points. The restaurant is always clean, organized, and bright. It’s a very comfortable atmosphere especially with the lovely Greek music playing in the background. They know how to make you feel like family. Of course, you’re going there for their food. So let’s talk about it. My personal favorite is the build your own gyro. You can add a variety of vegetables, dressings, toppings, and/or meats to your gyro. It’s so versatile and it never ceases to fill me. And I mean the food is really filling. A gyro usually last me two meals. The desserts are amazing and imported directly from Greece. So you’re getting top of the line Greek cuisine along with flavorful desserts. They also have an assortment of platters, salad bowls, grain bowls, and pita wraps to choose from. No matter what you get from Athenian Fresh Grill, you will always be satisfied. Especially when you can get a decent sized gyro for $10. GREAT FOOD BUT EMPLOYEES ARE BAD AT WEARING MASKS: I have been here multiple times during quarantine and I can say without a doubt that their food is excellent but their employee mask wearing policy is terrible. It seems like none of the employees were trained on how to wear their mask. I've seen two different cooks in the back and they are never wearing a mask at all (on one occasion one cook had their mask clipped onto their shirt?). Then the employees in the front are constantly pulling their masks up and down WHILE they are preparing food. I've seen multiple employees do this. One time when I asked for a clarification on choices, the lady pulled down her mask when answering and did not pull it back the entire time she was preparing my food. She was communicating with her coworkers, so technically she was breathing and talking all over my food. And if they need to adjust their masks they should at least be replacing their gloves after! Im not a very vocal person so I didn't say anything. Obviously I kept coming back because the food is delicious, but Im always hoping their mask policy will have changed every time I come back but it is always the same. If this doesn't bother you too much, definitely come here cus the food is so fresh and so great but otherwise come back after...
