I ordered two sandwiches de miga de jamon y queso and 2 medialunas by phone at 8:10 saying I would be there In 10 minutes to pick up. She said there was no time to toast the sandwiches de miga, I said fine. I get there at 8:20- 8:25pm and say is it still to late to toast the sandwiches de miga she glances at the owner and she says no. Over the phone i asked her to put the 2 packages of sandwiches de miga for me to the side. When i get there I see the two packages of sandwiches de miga still in the display case and i ask her why she didn't put them to the side for me. She says rather dismissively, they are right there... me hago la pendeja, ta bien and I smile in her rude little face, I'm pregnant, fairly psychotic and im not in the mood tp argue with fools, i let it slide, strike one duly noted...that should have been my first cue that I was dealing with people who really don't care about the customer. I say I didn't realize there were two in each I will take just one and 2 medialunas. Somehow this translated to her making me 3 medialunas de jamon y queso and when I went to pay I said I didn't order this I ordered the sandwiches de miga de jamon y queso. I resent being treated like a fool especially by someone who should really really know better. Just because I smile in your face ladies does not mean I am a fool. But kudos for treating me as such. I'll make sure every single Argentine relative I have knows about your exemplary service. Truly truly amazing. Nothing I love more than someone taking my kindness for weakness and stupidity. Really really disgusting behavior. It was like I was being mean girled by the help. Truly one of a kind....
Read moreWhat happened to Chicas?? Used to be my favorite place but the coffee, desserts and cakes have gone down in quality. Also the staff is not as friendly as it used to be. The Spinach Feta, Pastel de Carne and the Croissant used to be delicious but it needs more than 45 seconds in the oven to be nice and hot. The staff gives me a dirty look every time I ask to warm it up a little longer. The other day I asked for three different things and they didnât have any of it and the lady behind the counter got upset with me when I think it should have been the other way around. That was so strange. Maybe she was having a bad day but it was very unprofessional. Also the times that Iâve order a smoothie, they need to take out the big book to see the ingredients and they take forever to make it. They need to trained the staff because this is ridiculous. I worked in Carvel and TCBY, and I had to learned to make every single drink because when you are busy, thereâs no time to take out the big book. And Chicas is always busy and the staff shouldnât be checking the big book for ingredients. THE STAFF NEEDS TRAINING!! Also, the cakes are poorly decorated and they have lost that addictive taste. Chicas used to be a great place to go eat but not even the staff seems happy. I keep seeing new faces so I guess is not a great place to work either. And you can even taste it in their food. Iâm taking a break from Chicas. Iâm going across the street to Cortaditos. The staff is fast, they donât check the big book when I order a seasons drink. I know I donât need to add more time in the meter even when I see a long line because the staff is quick and professional. They know what they are doing. And their Mojito Ice coffee is to die for..đ€€ No more...
Read moreThis review isn't about the staff or the establishment. The staff is always courteous and friendly and the atmosphere is always welcoming and clean. This review is solely about the blatant lack of respect coming from the "owner". A person with black hair and dark glasses. I would say gentleman but the generous term does NOT apply here. My whole family stopped by this morning after a lovely walk in the park. We had two iced coffees and three turkey clubs. It was absolutely perfect especially dining al fresco by the side of the cafe. Our wonderful experience would soon turn sour as we were approached by a complete stranger who then proceeded to rustle our infants hair UNSOLICITED. Being the protective parents my husband and I are, we spoke up against the individual touching our child. At first, this person apologized claiming he does this with every child he meets (this already sends up red flags). He then proceeds to ask whether we were customers of the bakery. Once confirmed, ONLY THEN did this individual introduce himself as the "owner" and told us to never patron the establishment again. To say I feel violated is an understatement. I do not care whether you are the Pope, no one has the permission to touch anyone's child!!! Especially not in this post COVID world. PARENTS BEWARE!!!! If you come to dine at this establishment, make sure you sacrifice your child's personal space and dignity for the "owner" won't allow you to come back unless you let him TOUCH your...
