Puerto Vallarta 🇲🇽 — Restaurant in North Bergen

Please note this review is only based on the food, which was delivered via Uber Eats. The delivery was quick and efficient. The presentation of the food and the portions were solid. The Enchiladas Suizas, Steak and Chicken Quesadillas, and the Tacos Tejanos all looked vibrant and fresh. Food was served in these Styrofoam trays and aluminum bowls. On one side, food was fortunate to not be a mess after delivery, however the food was still lukewarm. My one concern over the food personally was the rice. The yellow rice tasted stale, so either absorbed the Styrofoam material or it wasn't cooked the same day. Refried beans were ok. The tacos were cooked very well. Ground beef was seasoned well and the taco shells were crispy. Steak quesadilla was grilled very well, and the guacamole and sour cream added an extra layer of freshness. Overall, the food is solid. I'm a little concerned though that the order did NOT include a side of chips. For an authentic Mexican-Spanish restaurant, this should be second nature. I'm sure if I was eating in that would have been served without hesitation. I have no doubt I'll order again in the future, but the prices of Puerto Vallarta are a tad bit steep. Certain items are just priced too high. For items to have a high price, the flavor needs to be out of this world. Flavor is good, but not at their prices. 5 starts for the food but 2 starts for the service!! My Family and I arrived on a Thursday night around 0915 pm, we were not greeted by our waiter she just point at the table where we were going to sit in. Only two menus were brought in on a table of three and before a hello or anything we were told “The kitchen is closing in 10 minutes soo…” when we looked up the hours in google, the hours were from 11:am to 11:00pm anyway I work in the food industry before and I know the feeling on someone arriving last minute BUTs this does not make it okay to treat your costumers like you want them gone as soon they arrive. My wife and son got our food around 09:50 or so and we literally choked out food because we did not feel welcome and did not want to make anyone wait. The waiter never came to offer anything else such as drinks or water after the food arrive and we had to wait 10- 15 minutes to get our check because we did not find her, We ask for help to a person in the bar. I would have gave it 5 stars if the service was better. It gets a 4 stars because food was excellent and great value for the price.

I had Enchiladas Veracruz which was yummy and also large portion. I would definitely get this again. It had a mixture of shrimp, calamari and other shellfish inside. The green sauce was good and it was perfectly cheesy. The refried beans and yellow rice were on point.

My boyfriend had the skirt steak with chicken enchilada and it was very good too. He loved it and I taster it as well. Great meal for $17

We enjoyed the outdoor dining experience and happy that this is only 5 blocks walking distance from my house. I don't know why I took so long to come and try it out but will be back and looking forward to trying other things...
