Update as you can see below Java Nation Rockville Double Downed on a lie. Just as they record their incoming calls I recorded my call to Estephani in which I told her my wife was standing right in front of to the counter so there is no way her name was called.
Counter point: let’s pretend they called her name 3 times in the time period that they listed. Why is it that when she asked twice about her food order did the person not give her the food. So did they call her then forget that the bag of food was hers?
See, this is why we don’t lie. The truth will do. Every business has a bad day. It is the job of the people who work there to improve not lie to save face. That is not the way you learn.
When the right thing to do is admit a bad customer service moment and learn from it Java Nation Rockville chooses to lie. That saddens me. I wish I could give zero stars after this terrible development.
Sorry Java Nation I have 7 minutes of a call where you agree that this was handled poorly and that you don’t know how it happened.
So which story shall we believe the one I have recorded or the lies you just wrote to combat this review. I wish you had chosen better.
Update: I called and spoke to the manager Estephani. She was cordial and tried to help. I appreciate her doing the work she will do to take care of this so it happens to no one else.
It hurts me to leave this review because generally I like this Java Nation. However, today my wife waited AN HOUR for fries, a burger, pupusas and a couple of drinks.
Of course they gave her the drink first and it melted as she waited. When she pointed that out the server the person just said sorry and turned and walked away.
She asked about the food and the person gave her an attitude. Finally she ask another person about the food and he says it is right here. It had been sitting there over 30 mins! He tried to tell her it was there only 5 minutes but the ticket showed it was there over 30.
So yeah. Never again. Rockville Java Nation. Which is sad, I go there and take so many people there for work stuff. Oh well Silver Spring and Kensington are just...

They also have fresh juices and smoothies, in addition to the usual coffee drinks. They're still serving take-out and delivery during the current events - you can place an order via Ubereats or by calling them directly (I recommend calling them directly if you can, so they don't have to pay the huge fees to Ubereats).
Original Review: I am so excited that this local café has opened within walking distance of my home - based on my first experience there today, I already know I will be a regular. The pupusas were excellent (I tried one of each of the three flavors: chicken, spinach, and beans) and there are plenty of tables with a nice atmosphere and arrangement - great for quiet focus or for chatting with friends. The patio area is quite large and, though it does not yet have any tables, I can imagine it being very nice once the weather warms up and they get it set up.
My only disappointment was that I had seen that their online menu listed smoothies, but they don't actually have any smoothies - I asked the girl at the counter whether that was just because of the soft opening, but she didn't seem to know. Their menu board doesn't seem to have a placeholder for any smoothies, so I'm not sure whether that's something they'll actually ever have.
Since their actual menu differs from their online menu, I've included photos of their actual menu with this review.
Overall, this is an incredible addition to the area and I'm so happy that there is finally a business in this spot that I see myself visiting often (the previous tenants, Addie's and Helen's, were both very...
Read moreReally solid, cool place with nice vibes! This place is definitely a mixture of coffee shop, bar, restaurant and bakery. In some ways, I think this is a pro, and in other ways, a possible con, just because it brings away the focus from doing one thing super well. However, I will definitely give Java their props because I had a nice cup of coffee, as well as some pretty delicious tacos.
I’ll be honest, the chicken tacos surprised me - they had a lot more depth of flavor than I expected. That chicken was cooked and spiced to perfection. Only complaint for me was the tacos were a bit overstuffed with chicken.
For coffee, I tried the Hor-chai-tea and added an espresso shot. Reminded me of a dirty chai, which is the kind of vibe I was going for. Overall a good latte, however I wasn’t quite feeling the horchata/chai mixture. I think I’d go for one or the other personally since they are so similar, the flavors tend to blend too much.
Overall - cool place with nice, casual vibes. You can sit down or take out and lots of outdoor or partial outdoor seating. They have breakfast/brunch as well as happy hour and dinner menus. Didn’t get a chance to try the bakery items, but they looked pretty delicious as well. Definitely would recommend giving this restaurant a stop!
