Taipei Tokyo Cafe — Restaurant in North Bethesda

When my cousin and I arrived at this place, we were greeted with a warm smile and a friendly welcome by Flora. Simple things like the greeting we experience we felt the tone what the entire dining experience is going to be, and we were all wow. And Flora delivered nothing less than that. Flora composed herself to us w/ respect & courtesy. She always listened attentively to our request. If that's not service, I don't know what is. Flora was very attentive to us keeping our water fill and if our plate gets too dirty, she attends to those too by switching out our plate. This place has a great atmosphere because staff like Flora exude a friendly environment where we felt we would enjoy coming here to eat and experience the dining experience outside of our comfort of our home. And most of all the food is very good to our surprise, we had the spicy fried tofu and the fried chicken wings made to perfection along with our suggested sushi rolls. They were all yummy!!! We couldn't wait to come back and visit Flora when we are in the neighborhood or seeking that wonderful dine-in experience again and what she brings to Taipei Tokyo Cafe. Thank you so much and very much appreciate to allow us this chance to experience your staff Flora to provide such a wonderful experience that we enjoy. I would definitely recommend this place and ask for Flora as much as we would like her to be our experience, you just have to give this place a try with Flora to experience it yourself. Craving for Chinese quick service food on a Friday early afternoon. I visited by myself and ordered Pad Thai. I was surprised the food was served literally within five mins after I placed my order. The food was somehow bland. In addition, I ordered “beef and shrimp combo” but got chicken, shrimp and only two pieces of beef in small size. I waited for the waiter/waitress to come so that I can ask if they made an error with my order. After waited for a few mins, I saw the waitress stopped at every other table but just not mine. I really wondered why I was ignored. I decided to let it go and started to eat because I was very hungry. I saw the business was pretty good as almost every table was full. However, the waiter/waitress never returned to me or stopped by checking on me despite I had to stand up and walked around looking for chili or hot sauce since the food was so bland. Until I finished my dinner, I had to wave my hands very hard for several times to finally have someone bring me a check and take out container for packing the left over. I only added 10% of tips on top of the bill as I was very unsatisfied with their lack of service. Looking around I saw I was the only Asian customer. I had to question was this the reason there’s no attention given to me?? It was not a pleasant dinning experience here. However this was my first time visiting this Chinese restaurant. I had their beef noodle soup for lunch there today. This is a huge bowl of spicy noodle soup, with slices of beef. There was plenty of well-flavored, tender beef. The noodles were large and delicious. And the broth was quite spicy--true to the original dish. All in all, it was a delicious meal.

But when I went to pay for it, I found that I didn't have my wallet! I had rushed out of the house earlier and left it behind. They told me to phone them with my credit card number, that it was no problem.

My wife and I decided to return there for dinner so that I could pay for lunch personally. Because the restaurant has both Chinese and Japanese food, we melded two of our favorite cuisines. We had hot and sour soup, that was delicious and with lots of good ingredients, including tofu, mushrooms and seaweed. The sushi-sashimi plate had fish that was very fresh and of high quality. The nigiri rice was properly compressed and a good size. Tempura, that arrived right out of the fryer, with a light, crisp coating that crunched when you bit into it. Excellent tempura!

Their food is authentic and delicious, and the service is very friendly. Yes, I agree with other reviews, the prices are very reasonable. It's an excellent place to go if you want Asian food that's easy on the wallet.
