Granted we came on a busy day, which was Easter so I don’t mind if the service is a little bit slow. However, we waited over an hour to get seated because their system for seating people is extremely flawed. They gave us a paper with a number and just called our number when the table is ready. We had been waiting about 45 minutes already and when we asked how many people ahead of us, the host said 2, but then called 7 different groups so we ended up waiting about another 30 minutes. I work in a restaurant so I understand that a majority of what the host had said was just an estimate. They called our number but a different group of people walked up and took our table, the host didn’t check their number ticket to make sure they were the right number. When we told that to the host, he said we would be the next table but then proceeded to seat 3 more tables instead.
The food: The food was delicious, but with the service, it was DEFINITELY not worth the time and money.
The service: This isn’t like any traditional restaurant where they take your order. They come around in carts with items and they just ask you if you want it. At first they came around immediately and it was very quick, but as time went on we went from waiting 5 minutes, to 15, to 30, to 45 whole minutes before anyone came around with a single cart. We were skipped multiple times and whenever we flagged down waitresses they just kept telling us “a cart will come around”, there was never a cart. I work in a restaurant so I know when the problem is the customer or the service. This problem was with the service. Waiting 45 minutes for three spring rolls is absolutely ridiculous. Never have I been to a restaurant with worst service than this. There is so many other things that happened with ordering and them charging us way more than what we had “ordered” (if you can even call this ordering)
*extra note: multiple members of my family received dirty dishes .
The image is all we had received in the hour and a half we sat there (most of it was spent waiting). Keep in mind we said yes to virtually everything that came by in carts and a lot of it we had to flag down our waitress and ask them to get it for us because there was no cart on the floor.
We ended up just cutting off our lunch then and there and wanted NOTHING more than to just leave. We were extremely unsatisfied and angry when we left. Worst restaurant experience I have ever had, and I will not be coming back, nor will I recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Come here if u want to waste ur time...
Read moreI had a great experience here recently. I work early mornings in a restaurant in dc and my wife works late nights at a restaurant in Tyson’s corner. This Thanksgiving was nothing different. We did not have a chance to cook, so I looked around when I got home and noticed that China Garden is open! Awesome, their food is great and the duck is to die for. So I went over and ordered one to go. Now here’s where the story gets funny. They were super busy as is was at 7 pm and it’s Thanksgiving. The lady who took my order said it will take a while, about 30 minutes. I said sure no problem, I paid and left to go home to wait it out as I live right across the street. However, after working since 6 am this morning, my brain gave out and I passed out on my couch, to wake up at 3 am in a panic and with nothing to put on the table for my wife for our late Thanksgiving meal! I had chalked it up as a loss, but on a whim I decided why not go to the restaurant the next day and see what they can do about it. The lady at the door instantly remembered me and said they were waiting for me to come back last night. She told me not to worry, they will take care of me. No questions asked, not even a hint of resistance. They simply wanted me to be able to enjoy the meal. Now here I am with an amazing crispy duck waiting for my wife to get home so we can finally enjoy our Thanksgiving together! Great job China Garden! You have gained a loyal customer! Thank...
Read moreWe came here for the first time for dim sum on a Tuesday and it was pretty packed (assuming since it was the Tuesday after Christmas and everyone took off to spend quality family time). We walked in to an already present line of people waiting to be seated. The hostess came over, asked everyone how many people were in their party and then left. No greetings, formalities, or indications of how long the wait was going to be. We waited there blindly for about 15-20 minutes before being seated. Our table did not have any dinnerware and so the waiting game continued for 1) someone to greet us and take our order and 2) someone to bring us dinnerware. It took about 15 minutes again and multiple hails to the wait staff to finally get everything straightened out. Definitely not a good start to our dim sum lunch. The food selection for dim sum was pretty small compared to some other dim sum places in the area. We ended up getting our normal dim sum go to's.. hargow, shuimai, rice crepes, black bean spareribs, turnip cake, and egg tart among other dishes. Food came out relatively quick which was a plus. The food was on par with the other said dim sum restaurants in the area. However the prices here are definitely steeper. I guess they have to get their ROI from the fancy decor somehow. All in all, won't be coming back here. There are way more dim sum options in the area, so definitely no need to settle for...
