My husband and I tried this place for the First time on April 5, 2023. We opened up our burgers and the buns were so wet they were absolute mush. Not to mention the food was cold. The fries and onion rings were dripping with grease. At this point we tried to return the food untouched. We had not eaten one morsel. They told us that they could not take it back. At that point we went home and tried to scrap off the bun so we could replace it with some bread we had in the pantry. The burger were so greasy and hard we just could not stomach them. The fries and oinion rings were just as bad. We literally tried feeding some of it to our dog. Our dog wouldn't even eat a small portion of the burger. On April 6 the charge hit my account. The bill was $70. Yes $70. I could not believe it. So I called the store because all of our items were listed Al cart on the reciept. Meaning there are no meal deal. Everything was purchased separately. I ordered 2 double cheese burgers, 2 lil burgers, 2 large fries, 2 onion rings, 1 chopped steak platter with fries and 1 large shake. So for 5 people with ONE SIDE PER PERSON and NO DRINKS just one chocolate shake cost $70!! I have never spent $ 70 in a fast food in my life. A meal we couldn't even eat. When I called the restaurant on Saturday they confirmed all item are purchased separately. Unless they have certain platter, but even then fries are added. For example the chopped steak platter was $11.99 and $1.50 for French fries added. If you get a double cheeseburger it is $10.95 per burger and it is $3.25 per large French fries. Onion Rings are even more $4.69 per large onion ring. So one double cheese burger with a large onion ring will cost you at least $15.64 with out tax. Just imagine it is cold, greasy and soggy. This place is a fast food place. I have never been so disgusted in my life. Truly! I wanted to provide a photo of my receipt and pictures of the food, but there isn't an option for that. If the food was great it would be at least something I could live with. I have never ordered a burger I couldn't even eat forget the fries and onion rings. Just that...
Read moreMy friend and I stopped in for lunch and sat at the counter on Feb. 11th. While all the employees were cheerful, there was on in particular that was working double-duty with a smile the whole time (I think she said her name was Angela). As we sat down, she's making milkshakes and still looks over her shoulder to greet us (cheerfully!) and asked us for our drink order. I ordered a strawberry malt miilkshake, asking for extra malt (and proactively adding that I'm okay if there's an extra charge for extra malt). It was one of the best milkshakes I've ever had.
Angela wasted no time in finishing the task at hand, and as she collected things to make our drinks, scanned the dining room, and stopped another server, politely mentioning how long Angela felt they had been sitting there, and asking the server to go check on them. That's the double duty part, and the dining room was pretty busy when we walked in, three others at the counter, 6 tables filled (that grew to be a full house by the time we left).
So my hat is off to Angela who kept up a great attitude, kept an eye on everything, directed people appropriately/accordingly, and did it all with a smile. If she's not a manager, she should be. Aspiring managers, should take a course from her.
Food came out quickly after we ordered - a great sign that the kitchen is on mostly top of things, especially for being newly opened. My order had one easy-to-fix mistake, they forgot my bacon. I mentioned it to Angela, and she gave a sincere and appropriately short apology ("I'm so sorry, we'll fix it right away." I call out the length of the apology because some people make their apologies too long in effort to sound more sincere. That isn't always the case. Tone does 90%, and again Angela nailed it).
In less than two minutes I had a small basket with my appropriately crispy bacon for me to put on my burger - and it was delicious! Onion rings were also excellent.
If I'm ever in the mood for burgers and shakes and in the neighborhood, this is where I'm...
Read moreI have had the opportunity to visit HWY 55 Burgers, Shakes, & Fries on multiple occasions, and while some aspects of my visits have been enjoyable, others have been a bit disappointing. Here is an overview of my experiences at this establishment.
Foremost, the staff at HWY 55 has consistently been friendly and welcoming. They create a positive atmosphere and provide attentive service, which is always appreciated. Their warm demeanor adds to the overall dining experience and makes customers feel valued.
However, the food has been a bit hit or miss. While there have been occasions when I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, there have been others when it didn't quite meet my expectations. The quality and consistency of the food seem to vary, which can be a bit disappointing. It would be great if they could ensure more consistency in the taste and preparation of their dishes.
One aspect I appreciate about HWY 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries is the availability of outside seating, especially for guests with dogs. It's wonderful to have the option of dining outdoors and bringing along our furry companions. The fact that they provide water for dogs is a thoughtful gesture and demonstrates their pet-friendly approach.
Overall, my experiences at HWY 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries have been a mix of positives and negatives. The friendly staff and the provision of outside seating for dogs are definite highlights. However, the inconsistency in the quality of the food leaves something to be desired. With some improvements in the kitchen, this place has the potential to be a consistently great dining...
