Was pretty excited to try this place out, especially in this newly developed area. It was ok. The staff was very nice but the atmosphere for me anyway wasn't good. The chairs were metal and honestly small for a girl with a bigger booty and thighs than a very skinny girl, lol. My boyfriend was even uncomfortable, lol. It was VERY loud in there. I'm glad everyone was having a good time, but it echoes, which makes it extra loud. We ordered the calamari appetizer, and for me, that was my favorite thing. Very good sauce, not too spicy, seasoned well, and crispy. My meal was just ok. Nothing special, honestly. I ordered two chalupas, but I think they thought I said tostadas, which I can understand because it was so loud, so I didn't complain at all cause I like tostadas. They were pretty soggy and not a lot of flavor, just pretty bland. My boyfriend had a grilled chicken dish with cheese, and that was pretty good. Tender chicken, seasoned good and filling for him. Idk maybe it was just a busy day, maybe I'll try them again because again the staff was very nice and that really helps a restaurant for a second chance. Pretty busy area for sure so go early and try to get a parking spot because that was difficult to find.

We walked in at about 5pm on a Thursday and there was only one other table seated. Service was quick and professional. I love that they have a dedicated vegetarian menu with several vegan options. Complimentary chips and salsa were a nice touch that many restaurants are charging for nowadays. We also got a side of guac which tasted fresh. I ordered the veggie soup with rice which was exactly what I was needing on a chilly afternoon. It was a large bowl chock-full of veggies: broccoli, cauliflower, yellow and green squash, onion, mushrooms, green onion, diced red peppers, and carrots, plus chunks of avocado that melted in my mouth. The soup was hot with a nice clear broth, and the vegetables were tender but not mushy. There was also rice to make it a little heartier. Honestly, I wanted to know whose abuela was in the kitchen making that soup? It was so freaking delicious and comforting, I’ll need to try and make it at home since I probably won’t be back in Charleston. The place was filling up when we were leaving. Bathrooms were in the main part of the building lobby, right across from the door to enter Azul, and they were clean, spacious, and well maintained.

I absolutely loved this restaurant and want to definitely return!! The food is amazingly delicious! They know how to season their cactus which made me love this place! Their salsas are out of this world, too! That right there will keep me returning to them! I rate my Mexican and Asian restaurants high when they know how to make good salsas to rock the food!! Their prices are fair, and they don't take advantage of people like other places that people won't return to because of prices. There are lower price choices for those who can't spend too much on food, too. The food is delicious; trust me! Environment is great! I also tried their Chicken tortilla soup, but I forgot to take a picture. The environment is super! You can sit and chat outside the patio, and that's the best choice to eat at in my opinion unless it's a very cold day or hot day. I'm definitely returning to try everything else. Our server was amazing! I wish I got his name, but he was always assuring we were taken care of!

I’ve never given a restaurant one star before; I used to be a server and understand how crazy things can get. The restaurant was slightly busy, but the service here was so awful we could’ve up and left without the restaurant even noticing we were gone. Our waiter was actually sitting off to the side FaceTiming people during the entirety of our visit, and didn’t seem to care that we were waiting for him. This is the secondary time I’ve came here, and both times were pretty terrible.

We were seated for almost 20 minutes before anyone greeted us. Chips and salsa were brought out at that time, and then about 15 min later they brought everyone a water except one person at our table. They proceeded to take our drink order and then ignored the table for another 30 min. The person in our group had to go up to the bar to get a water since the waiter refused to bring it, regardless of how many times we asked. Once the drinks did come out, they brought everyone their drink, except one person at our table (the same guy who never got his water). We asked to get his drink, and the waiter said he would bring it before disappearing again. That one beverage took another 25min (we were making jokes amongst ourselves and started a timer to see if we were actually waiting this long or if it just felt like it).

Finally, our food order was taken nearly 2 hours after we arrived. We were told kitchen was closing so we had to put in our order. I’m not exaggerating when I say we had tried for hours to put our food order in prior to being told kitchen was closing. We arrived way before anything was even near closing. The waiter just wouldn’t take our order. I'm pretty sure someone else had told him to hurry up and take it cause they wanted to leave.

We got our food after they had begun shutting down for the night. It was extremely mediocre to say the least.

Getting the check was another battle. Our waiter took his FaceTime call into the bathroom, and didn’t come out for over half an hour. Finally, he came by and asked how we wanted the check, and then he proceeded back to the bathroom. The other staff was literally just standing waiting for us to leave, so they could finish closing duties. I don’t understand why no one intervened, but I really don’t think anyone cared. Eventually, we got our check and were able to leave.

I hope either management changes, or, as terrible as it is, I hope they go out of business and a quality establishment takes their place. Azul will not be recommended to any of my friends, family, or client moving...

I had high hopes, but we were seated at the worst table in a nearly empty restaurant. The table butted up to a pillar with an ordering kiosk, so every time someone ordered anything, their rear end was in my daughter's face. I wish I was kidding.

And the chairs seem to be designed to be uncomfortable. I am not large, but I had to sit with the chair turned sideways to tolerate it.

It was very loud, there was nothing to suppress the noise, like curtains or acoustic tiles on ceilings. Fortunately, it was not busy at all around 6 pm, so the noise could have been far worse.

The margaritas had table salt on them which made me gag.

I watched the server have a conversation at the front desk for about two minutes while we sat with our menus nearly falling off the edge of the table. (We were very close to the desk.)

I think my chile relleno was made from a jalapeno - far too spicy to eat. I've eaten this dish in nearly every Mexican restaurant I've been in and it was never like that.

Refried beans were completely tasteless. The fried ice cream was bizarre, I couldn't figure out the substance on the ice cream. Some of the entrees were fine, but not exceptional.

The flan was...
