I had 2 give Breck's 1 star in order 2 warn everyone not 2 eat at Breck's in North Charleston. Clearly they do not deserve 1 star. The worst chicken fried steak I've ever tasted. Pryor 2 tonight we have always loved Breck's. I ordered the chicken fried steak 2 go. Sure wish I had eaten in so I could have just gotten my money back. The so called meat was 2 round patties of fake meat. See the enclosed picture's of the fake meat and the mashed potatoes and cabbage portions fit in a dinner serving spoon mayb 3 bites for $13.00. I've never been so disappointed. I will never return 2 Breck's. The kicker is I called to let the owner Mr Dyon know how the quality sucked he was not in and I spoke 2 the manager Sheila and I use the term manager loosely because as I was speaking kindly 2 her she talked over me and interrupted me and would not let me speak and when I finally did get my complaint in her answer was that is what they have always served. Granted I had not been there in a minute however I told her no way because I had eaten this in the past. Her answer was bring it back, well I live all the way in ladson not an option. Just a friendly warning do not eat at Breck's in North Charleston. I will call back 2 morrow and voice my concerns with Mr Dyon as well as complain about his so called manager Shelia who never once apologized just made excuses.

Breck's has been around for a long time and tells you they have found their niche. It is a hole in the wall. Atmosphere is zero. The room we were in was pained battleship grey along with the tables. Menu is a couple of pieces of paper stapled together that have seen better days. The prices are cheap and the food is good. My steak was overcooked but we were a large party and I know that's hard to manage. It was a slow weeknight. But the steak was still good, not tough or gristly. Which I have gotten at other places around town while paying for an expensive cut. It is out of the way for us not not a usual stop. I bet a busy night is a fun time to people watch. I'd certainly go again because it does what it does and I am just trying to be honest so some Instagramer is not surprised if they go. The server was great and patient with my disorganized guests.

My first visit to Brecks. Foodie friends of mine were shocked that I had not eaten a steak at Breck's Steakhouse. They said good steaks and reasonably priced food. I dined there with friends on a Sunday. That is Prime Rib Special day. My prime rib was cooked medium rare. It was a nice size. I also had a baked potato and green beans too. The prime rib had little flavor. I guess it's the beef they use. But not much flavor. The baked potato and green beans were fine. The waitress was very friendly and efficient too. There is value here. My dinner with a glass of tea was under $30.00 with tip. I will return to try their Steaks.

This is NOT a steakhouse. Do not come here with that expectation or you will be sorely disappointed as I was. This quality and preparation of food makes this feel more like a diner than a steakhouse. The Server was very kind and attentive as you would expect of a diner. 9 oz ribeye tasted as though it had been frozen, came lukewarm, and was extremely thin with very little marbling as one would expect in a ribeyeThe steak reminded me of something that an average cook at home would make which makes me ask why would I come back for something I could just as easily make at home if not even better at home (and pay way more). I would also recommend adjusting prices to match the quality of the food...so probably $3-$4 less for their steaks. I would also recommend applying butter to a baked potato before you load it with cheese and bacon...expecting me to do that means the cheese has already melted around the potato and my butter cannot. Appetizers were by far the best part of my meal fried mushrooms were great as was the fried calamari...again though these are things I would expect more from a diner than a steakhouse...I think as a diner my review would have been more forgiving, but if you are going to put "steakhouse" in your title you have a loooooong way to go

In response to defensive owner: I will gladly go across the street to Texas Roadhouse across the street next time I am in town for a better steak. At least then, my steak will be hot. I had already waited long enough for my steak and I am not going to force the rest of my party to have to wait for you to re-prepare my food. It's great to say you will make things right, and I do appreciate the sincerity in wanting to make it right, but get it right the first time because You don't know what plans your guests may have already established. And the whole "We're not perfect" bit, I understand no one is perfect, but that bit gets old. You used that line with another reviewer. I'm not the only one that commented about you being a "steakhouse." Many of my complaints are repeated a few times over the past year or so. Maybe Learn to accept a little bit of criticism and do something about it instead of sitting here trying to cry "we are not perfect." In regards to your phoney pretentiousness comment, over-reaching would be the word I would use in regards of you being a "steakhouse."

Again, multiple people have had similar complaints as mine. Instead of attacking like you did in my review. Step back and examine the things being said. If it's one comment, ok. But when multiple people are saying similar things, it's time to start looking in house to see what may need tweaked or fixed. as an owner, you are absolutely at liberty to do as you please with your restaurant, but Not everyone takes the time to give you feedback like you can get from these reviews, and if you have had multiple people out of the 100s or 1000s of guests you have served leave complaints. You can rest assured others have as well and just won't come back, and then you are like the owners on kitchen nightmares, "I don't know what happened" "my food is wonderful" " People just stopped coming in" or "its those...

Just left. I had the sirloin with loaded baked potato with salad and a tea. My wife had Ms. Betty's cheeseburger with blue cheese and fries. The burger was very good, cooked right. The fries were, well fries. The sirloin had an uncanny resemblance to a chuck steak. Very fatty and sinewy. Took a lot of work to cut the meat away from the tendons. I finally gave up. Service was okay and food came quickly. The last thing, I was overcharged. With sales tax, before tip the bill should have been around $38.50. I was charged $45.86. Conveniently the only receipt we get is the credit card receipt so there is no detailed receipt to check for error. Won't return again, especially since a fatty tough $23 steak ended up costing me $30. Could have been an honest mistake but my bank account doesn't know the difference.

Added after owner reply: okay you have explained the charge, I'll have more but first I don't go running to the internet and set my blazers to full blast. I have nothing aimed at you. I post reviews good and bad to let others know of my experience at a business. Did you not note the comment on the burger? This is the magic of social media. Where others would have to rely on word of mouth before now we have a multitude of opinions to see. So no' I didn't run to the internet. I actually didn't even think about the price, other than it is unusual to not get a detailed receipt in this day and age, until my wife said something AFTER WE LEFT. I have browsed the rest of the reviews now also and as I am sure you are aware there are several negative comments regarding the quality of your cuts. And no it is not as you told one individual, the luck of the draw. USDA grades meat for exactly this purpose. What is your grade? With that said I was told to pick a side and just said salad. I never realized there was an upcharge for salad. I assumed there would be for the loaded potato but did not think of that. Again my suggestion would be to give a detailed receipt prior to running the card. I appreciate the offer to come back but I will decline. I am 62 years old and that truly was the worst steak I can recall and I have done some damage on the grill at times. Not trying to be insulting. It truly was. Will change to two stars as I was not overcharged. It was your process that created the misunderstanding though. And as long as you have been in business I am sure you are aware most customers who have a bad experience simply will just...

This occurred early last month

  • Point of this long post...BRECK'S HAS ROACHES * Welp! I got the opportunity to go to Breck's... Yay right...uh nah! To cut to the chase. .a roach comes crawling out along the wall and ends up next the table, eventually onto the table as I attempted to "save the day" and kill it... eww. Waitress apologizes then says "we just sprayed yesterday" ok so we attempted to stay... yeah I know smh. Well that didnt last long bc two of its cousins came through. So needless to say we were out. Our food was just placed on the table shortly before the infestation occurred. So after being traumatized by the bugs (to include a pregnant one) we said we could not sit there and eat. We were provided to go containers and apologized to. We were told the manager would come over to talk with us about the ordeal. The line was very long. So we moved to a different table with our containers and waited. The waitress came back and apologized again and explained that the line was long so it may take a while. Well we waited. Our waitress never returned, but another did and we explained the situation. She says "oh no. Well we did just spray yeaterday" (why is this an acceptable excuse?....it's not!) She said she would go and get the manager. Well that waitress came back and says "the manager said she will comp you for the food, but if you take the food you will have to pay." ‍ so you're saying if I sit with your pets..I mean pests..then you will discount our meal.. ummm no thank you. So we left the food. Then the 2nd waitress says "well you can take the drinks if you want." Umm no thank you! She then says "well I would say come again, but I know that ain't happening. Ha ha ha!" so this is funny now... umno. So we walked out. Only then did I think about taking pictures of them. I went back in, but they already scurried back into their spots. Ugh! I am so sad and disgusted because I really liked the place. And the fact that the manager did not even have the decency to come out and speak with us (the line had since disappeared) just sealed it all. I have lost...
