Let me start off by saying that this was thee worst, poor customer service, and meal I have EVER received from this so-called Old School "BBQ joint". If I could give this place a 0-star rating...I would!! I ordered $40 worth of bbq and received $0 worth of nothing! We ordered two of the 2-meat combo with double sides, a side salad and extra green beans. The chicken was undercooked, the beef brisket was tough, over done, burnt and dried out, the corn fritters were overly deep fried, the Mac & cheese was gummie and the baked beans and texas toasted was scorched and charred as well. The pics absolutely does NOT do the taste of this piece of trash justice. Then when I called to speak to the manager, which I ended up speaking to the "owner in training" and I informed him of the situation and tht I had frequently been there before and had never had this poor of service or quality of food. Instead of him apologizing for the food and service, he blames it on me and states tht the food "may have been dry b/c of of it sitting, waiting for me to pick it up". I then politely informed him tht I literally live less than 5 minutes from the restaurant and the lady on the phone told me tht it wld take 20 minutes before it was ready. Still hoping to get some type of resolution he then asked me what is it tht I wanted him to do abt it. I informed him tht I wanted a credit of some sort and he said, "Yes, sure". And then informed him tht we had eaten part of the meals and he said tht was fine just bring the food back and I wld get my refund. I asked him wht time they closed and he said 9pm. To top things off I called back to find out if my refund wld be in the form of a credit voucher or the way I paid and he insulted me by saying tht, "it wld only make common sense to be refunded for only the uneaten portions of food and tht I wld only get my money back for tht", even after I had already told him tht the food was partly eaten and he said tht was ok to still bring it back. He made it seem like I was clueless and stupid and he made sure tht I knew tht he was not going to honor wht he said. I then asked if there was someone higher than him tht I cld speak to and he told me, "No...only his mom, who is the owner and tht she was not going to be as generous as he. He then told me tht, "I was no longer welcomed to his place of business anymore", even though I spend more than $40-50 on one meal a week in their establishment. Go figure! I will definitely NEVER recommend this place, especially for the price....given the customer service satisfaction is not worth it, its actually WORTHLESS!

Willie Jewel's was a pleasant surprise for my husband and me. We LOVE barbecue, so we always look forward to trying out a new spot. The restaurant is located at the end of what looks like a strip mall, and we had our fingers crossed that this wouldn't be just a typical fast food joint. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere here screams BBQ- no doubt what you're there for when you walk inside. Service was fantastic from the start. The employee at the register was friendly and answered our questions. There were two other people seated inside the restaurant; we visited late afternoon during the week, so didn't expect to see too many people. Before we left, there were four or five families in the restaurant. My husband ordered wings, which came with six wings amd a side (fries are a staple in his diet). He was EXTREMELY happy with the wings, which is actually rare. He said that the wings were "meaty" and cooked well, also pointed out that the fries were "perfect." I ordered the three meat platter with pulled pork, chicken and brisket. My meal came with two sides, so I ordered the mac and cheese with a side of collards. Our food portions were very generous for the price. All of the meats were surprisingly tender (it's what we always expect, but not always what we get). I forked my chicken to taste it, and the meat literally fell apart and left a clean bone on the platter. The pork and brisket were very tasty. My only complaint is that I had to really salt my collards because they were bland. The barbecue sauces were easily accessible (buffet-style) and were all warm. Not sure if the restaurant always serves them like that, but since the sauces were warm, they were easy to dispense and didn't cool off our food. Sauces included: 1) Hot Momma - good flavor, heat sneaks up on you 2) Sweet & Sassy - my favorite, but I really like the taste of honey 3) Hickory Heaven - didn't like on initial tasting of sauce, but hubby liked it on his wings 4) Lowcountry Gold - typical mustard base sauce, good stuff Both of our meals plus drink came to about $30, and again, we both felt like food portions were pretty generous. Staff members thanked us for visiting before we left, which always me happy. We have recommended Willie Jewell's BBQ to friends and cannot wait to return!

Coming from the North I expected a lot more from this long standing BBQ Rest.. I have gone 3 times before leaving any review. This last time was the worst. I placed my order to go in person and told them no rush, I was going to the gas station. When I returned, I waited less then 5 min. & they brought my order over. I thanked them, as always, got to the car, & as I was putting the bags in I realized how light they felt for 3 people. So I looked in, & they forgot our full side of coleslaw & Key Lime pie. So I went right back in, & the girl at register repeated it to the woman behind cooking line, who said, " Oh yeah, I forgot " so I went home, took everything out of the 2 bags, & was sadly disappointed, again. I ordered all the meat by the pound, not as a plate, so that I could order full size large sides. Well so much for that, all that happened was that I got ripped off. I ordered 4 full sides & was charged for 4 full sides, fries, corn fritters, coleslaw & onion rings. They put them in a large black box, filled over 1/2 way with fries, 6 corn fritters & 4 onion rings. Seriously??? And I paid full price for 4 Onion Rings??? What the heck??? to get a large full size order?? Again the brisket was so dry I had to let it soak in the marinade for over 1/2hr. & then slowly reheat on stove. I ordered 1/2Lb., & I weighed it on my postal scale, it was 1/3Lb. I did take pictures, because I can't believe BBQ is so much better in NJ then in the South. I will say that their corn fritters & ribs are ok/good, but definately no better as I got in NJ.

First off let me say that the manager is rude as hell. I go here maybe once or twice a week and I spend $40-50 or better every time I go. I always get the same thing racks of ribs or half a racks of ribs. So today I went in today and the ribs were tough/hard. Usually the ribs will fall off the bone but not today. I called and told her she said bring it back in. When I got there I was really polite I told the lady that I bought the ribs back in because they were hard. She says well what do you want to replace it with. I advised her that I wanted the ribs and I just didn't want those ones because they were hard. She proceeds to talk about it in front of other customers saying she has done this for 16 years and is the owner and these are all the same ribs and they're always cook the same. Number one if you're going to be an owner learn how to handle customers especially when you have a customer that comes in without an attitude. The way she handled the situation was very unprofessional. I don't know if it hurt her feelings or not but this one experience has made me highly pissed off. I'm going to tell all my friends all of my family do not eat here, word of mouth will kill a business you cannot disrespect people and expect people to still support your establishment. I am highly ticked off all I wanted was some ribs and now I have to deal with her and her attitude. To make it even more she told me to bring it back in you're picking through the food behind the counter where you're serving other food at unsanitary I should call the health department I should show them the recording of you doing that because this is very unprofessional why would you take the food back behind the counter where you're handling other people food go through the food take the ribs out and hand me the sides back and be like you can have the sides but I will not waste any more food giving you the ribs back I'll give you a refund what.. other customers in the establishment looking at me crazy because she keeps talking and running her mouth the whole time I'm sitting there just trying to figure out what did I do wrong spend my $50 with you. I will never come back in this establishment and I will make sure that everyone I know do not support this...
