Great park, lots of parking and best of all the kids playground is pretty much entirely in the shade. Pond has some paddle boat rentals and lots of jogging/walking trails. I do recommend some kind of mosquito repellent if you are going on the trails in the summer/not cold times. Some trails are paved and others gravel/dirt. They also have a hill, which is always fun when you live in a generally flat area. Kids enjoy running up and down it, and occasionally face planting on the way down when they run faster than they can go. They have two separate (only separated by a trail) playgrounds one for younger kids and one for older kids so you don't have to worry about your kid being run over by some teenager playing tag. They also have a great splash pad with water spraying up from the ground and falling down from the fountain etc. The splash pad water starts at 10am each day but I believe it's seasonal. So if you take your kids in the dead of winter then don't expect it...
Read moreFirst off there is a fee of 2.00 per person or a County Park pass is available on site which allows free access to all Charleston County Parks. I like to read after work before going home. The place I have been going is free but limited parking and zero shade. On the water which is nice and a tidal river that is more interesting. The contrast is this: two short trails there. One is a board walk on the Ashley River that I like. That is all you have other than the boat ramp. Here there is a seasonal water park that has a separate cost I believe. It is nice, for sure. Then a dog park, disc golf course and parking galore. Shelters and such I am sure you can rent for Birthdays for the kids and more I have yet to see. It is North Charleston, you can hear a hum of cars in the distance but really peaceful. All the secluded parking areas is a bonus. Still exploring but after a long day well worth two...
Read moreGreat park with a lot of activities and space to spend time with loved ones. The trails are paved and not too lengthy—perfect for a short bike ride with the kids. Plenty of open fields to throw a baseball, frisbee or play football.
The two playgrounds seems a little old but I haven’t noticed any issues with them. Lots of picnic tables for parties and a huge splash pad for the upcoming summer days.
There’s a large pond/small lake in which you can rent out paddle boats to enjoy the still waters. There is also a big dog park when you enter as well as a disc golf course among the trees (watch out for snakes!).
Lastly, separate from the park is a water park next door. I haven’t been there yet but it looks fun. Entrance is cheap—it is a state park so you know Uncle Sam wants his. You can buy an all-year pass.
Overall, I love this place and I will keep coming here for as long as I live...
