When they first opened this dog park I was really impressed. I felt it was well worth the yearly fee. They took care of it at first and over a few months and especially the last year I'd say I question the worth of the pass. They take much better care of the big dog park. When they mow they leave shredded tennis balls and dirt and wet grass all over the benches. While I do feel this dog park is of great potential, I'd be more satisfied if they tended to the little dog park the same way they do the big dog side. They have small netting on the ground possibly from when they laid the grads down and my dogs paw got caught in it. I called maintance and when they came over they said there was nothing the could do even tho a bunch of it is hanging out of the dirt. 3 stars for the splash pad being clean and tended to well and the running water is great. It would be really cool if the dog bath was free to people who pay for the gold pass.... after storms or heavy rain they don't pick up the tons of sticks that are all over the small dog park too... I just see a lack of care and I find it...
Read moreReally well maintained area. Nicely shaded areas provided by large awnings in both the splash and play areas. 2 separate areas, one for under 20 and the other for larger dogs however, the water area is quite small and in a circle which doesn't provide any type of "break-in space" for first-timers. Introduced our 2 year old Schnoodle to the splash area on a leash as he is very skiddish meeting dogs for the first time but warms up quickly. Unfortunately with the water area being so small he just wasn't able to relax so after trying to dodge the bombardment of the dogs that were not told to "play elsewhere" by their owners, literally not one command such as "hey get over here, stay by me" so..... It's truly a shame that the dogs were actually far friendlier than their owners. I so wanted him to enjoy playing whilst staying cool in the HOT Lowcountry heat. May try again and hang out in the play area waiting for a time that no other dogs are in the...
Read moreOur two dogs love coming here! Plenty of space for our energetic labradoodle to run, play ball, and socialize. I like that there's a dedicated section for small dogs only, but our shih tzu usually hangs out in the big dog (main) area anyways. The Splash Pawd is perfect for those sweltering summer days! There's also a self-service dog washing station ($).
My only complaint is the amount of sand/silt in the dog park, as it requires a thorough cleanup before heading home (it gets particularly bad when it's recently rained or is a dewy morning). I wish it was all grass/mulch.
Your $2 entry fee also gives you access to the entirety of the park with miles of walking trails, 2 playgrounds, a kids splash pad, and many other recreational activities--it's worth every penny. If you plan to come often, the yearly pass will be your best friend. Our whole family loves...
