I went for dinner tonight with my family on Sunday 8/16/20. I was quite disappointed as we spent a good amount of money but our experience was not up to par by any means. We first ordered a bottle of wine, the red blend roscato. It had great flavor and loved it. We ordered the sampler. Calamari, toasted ravioli, and fried Mozz. Calamari was ice cold as if it sat for 30 minutes and fried mozz and toasted ravioli were fairly hot so ate those but left the calamari. When dinner came, my wife and I ordered the chicken scampi. The peppers were barely cooked and neither was the red onion. Both my wife and I didn't care to eat it so we had a couple of bites and left it. We were waiting for our waitress to come back but she didn't even check on us to see how our food was. If she did I would have told her about it. Dinner ended and asked if we wanted them wrapped. I said sure because I didn't feel like throwing almost 18$ down the drain. She gave us a container but neglected to come back and clear our plates. We had so many plates that I had to take the initiative to stock up my own plates and put them at the end of the table which sat there for a while. She finally came back and to tell us that it's touchless service and to pay at the kiosk. She left and didn't even clear the plates that I clearly stacked for her at the table! Like seriously !! Do you have to be that lazy that you can't clear the plates when you had Open free hands?? My wife and I were really looking for dessert as we both wanted to have at least that for having mediocre meals. She didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert but she did tell us how to pay the bill !!!! I was like umm ok to my wife. She came back again and I asked her how we can order dessert and then came over to bring us a dessert menu. My wife and 8-year-old son were so aggravated they just got up to go into the car. The manager was upfront and did see that there were several plates STILL at our table and he came over to attempt to clear them. I was looking over my bill and noticed that she overcharged us and charged my son for a soda for his kid's meal. Doesn't she realize that the kid's meal came with a soda? The manager ended up taking care of it and took it off. Please re-teach your servers how to handle tables
Please check on the guests while they are eating. You never know if there is something wrong and obviously there was with us. Twice ( with the cold calamari and with barely cooked peppers and onion on our chicken scampi)
Ask for dessert and please don't just assume they don't want it because clearly we did.
Double-check the guest's bill. Things were added that shouldn't have been
Because of these issues, our experience was not good. I spent 85$. We had an appetizer, wine, and dinner. We would have spent more if we were offered dessert but the server was probably not trained well enough to realized that she had to ask her guests for dessert.
I can totally go to other restaurants in the area and spend my money and get better service. I have felt cheated and I absolutely did not feel like my money was well spent on a good meal with my family. Honestly, we are in COVID times. My family eats out occasionally due to the times we are in. I could have chosen to go to any other place but I chose Olive Garden. When it comes to the opportunity again, I'll remember this experience.
Please Olive Garden retrain and bring these points that I have mentioned to your servers because honestly there is a lot of other places out there that people can go to that can give better...
Read moreTonight my husband and I took my Olive Garden gift card I won at work and headed out for a nice meal, so we thought. Based on their commercials, they say when you are there you are like family and it is like getting a home cooked Italian meal. Not even close! Our waiter started by apologizing twice for the long wait and he would be right with us to take our order and thanked us for our patience when he finally came to our table. I ordered chicken marsala like I do at any restaurant and my husband got the eggplant Parm. When he ordered it the waiter was sure to ask if having the skin on the eggplant was ok as that is how they cook it and my husband said ok. Our salad arrived drowning in dressing, so I asked for our refill with no dressing and that one tasted like stop & shop bagged salad, you could taste that chemical taste of what they use to keep it fresh. Probably why they drown it in salad dressing so you can't taste it. The bread sticks that use to taste like garlic bread were plain bread sticks with a lot of salt on top. Our waiter said, " would you like dipping sauce for the bread?" we said yes assuming it was complimentary ( surprised to see $3.79 CHARGE FOR IT ON OUR BILL) My dinner arrived and the potatoes looked like something out of a freezer bag, like they had white freezer burn on them, but they ended up being the only part of the two meals that tasted good. But my chicken was tuff, dry and rubbery like chewing grizzle, the chicken looked to be medallions pan seared with wine added and then the mushrooms. Marsala his suppose to be breaded cutlets pan fried with wine added and then the mushrooms. This chicken was clearly tuff and overcooked, and so were the mushrooms. My husbands spaghetti was also over cooked because the starch glued it to the plate and it was dry. His tongue was burning after a few bites of the eggplant and wasn't sure if it was due to the skin being left on, so he couldn't finish it. When the waiter asked how are dinners were, I told him everything I said here and he said he would get a mgr. He came back and told us that the Mgr was dealing with another customer and it looked serious and he would come see us shortly. Why would he tell us something like that?! The mgr finally came over and when I told him he said, " really, you are the second customer to complain about tuff rubbery chicken tonight, I will have to order it for dinner and try it myself later to see what is going on. Can I offer you complimentary desserts"? I said I was diabetic and couldn't have any but I want to give him this feedback so it could get it all corrected. When I was told at work, I won a gift card and could choose any $25 gift card on the spinner, I chose the Olive Garden one because my husband liked it based on our last 2 dinners there which I always found to be too salty for my taste and blood pressure. we were both so disappointed, that I doubt we will ever...
Read moreWent to the North Haven, CT location last night with my husband and daughter. The place was not busy at all, and we were seated in about 5 minutes. Our drink orders were taken very quickly and so were our orders. Both my husband and I decided to try the new all you can eat stuffed pasta special, and my daughter decided on spaghetti with marinara... not difficult orders at all. Whether our server was the incompetent one or the kitchen, or both, our pleasant night out went downhill from there. Our soups and salad came out fine, but when our entrees finally came out, they brought out something completely different than what my daughter had ordered. We were told her correct order would be right out. 20 minutes later her food finally showed up. In the meantime, our server was no where to be found. My daughter had wanted grated cheese on her pasta, and it took another 10 minutes for that to show up. My husband and I both had finished our meals by the time the grated cheese had come out and we had wanted to try a different stuffed pasta, nope, our server took off as soon as the cheese was on my daughter's pasta. Our plates had not been cleared either from our soup and salad as well as our entree plates. So we sat there and waited. Finally, after my daughter had finished eating, our server came by and asked if there was anything else we needed. We asked for a box for my daughter's leftovers, refills on our drinks, and a refill each on the stuffed pastas. The box came out after about 10 minutes. Our drinks (2 sodas and a water) about 20 minutes later, and after 40 minutes, no refill on the stuffed pasta. Our server literally had 3 tables, and was MIA for most of this time. When we finally got her attention, we inquired about our refills. She said she would check on them. 20 minutes after that, we finally got our refills on the stuffed pasta. When those came out, we ordered another set of refills since it was taking so long. When we went to eat our 1st refill, the ravioli was lukewarm and dried out since there was very little sauce on it. We ate it anyways, since we weren't sure when/if our server would show up again, let alone our second refill order. A different server brought out our 2nd refill order within 10 minutes, which was much better (hot, not dried out, and enough sauce to cover the ravioli). We sat around for a while before our server showed up again. We asked for our check, and she promptly brought that out, then began to profusely apologize for how long it took to get my daughter's correct meal as well as our refills. Sorry honey, a little too late for the apology. She didn't even bother to send out a manager to explain why it took so long for our meals let alone an apology at any point during our meal. We will not be returning to the North Haven, CT location again. We'll make the longer drive to the West Hartford, CT location where we've never experienced...
