Grampa's Catfish & Seafood — Restaurant in North Little Rock

Stayed in Maumelle for a graduation this weekend and saw this restaurant was near with good reviews. We went there and ordered fried catfish and fried shrimp plates. Came out rather fast I thought and when I cut off a piece of one of the fillets using my fork I saw pink, gummie looking meat. I check the other 2 peices and one was done the other was not. Told my husband and sister in law to check theirs and it was the same. They had given us all catfish fillets that were perfectly cooked on the outside but not done on the inside. We told the waiter, he said he would get more cooked and I told him we want it cooked crispy and well done. He came back a little while later, still quicker than I thought it should have been, and these pieces were more crispy, but still not done inside so we told him we wouldn't be eating that and he could take it. The manager came out nd asked what was wrong and we told him and showed him. He says, "It's done, but it might not be as done as you want it." We all looked like, has he lost his mind. We again repeated that it's not done and we don't want anything else. He said the meal was comped as if we were going to pay for undone fish that we didn't eat! I didn't appreciate hia attitude at all. Won't be going back the next time I am in the area and woildn't recommend...

We were traveling through Arkansas on the way to Oklahoma for a family reunion and spent the night in Maumelle. We were looking for a good home cooking restaurant for dinner and just picked Grandpa's from a list provided by the hotel. It was, to say the least, a great choice. The food is excellent and our waiter, whose name unfortunately I have forgotten, was terrific. He was very personable and very professional. The meal came with a large bowl of delicious cole slaw that was brought to our table when the waiter greeted is. We had the fried dill pickle spears for an appetizer, and they were perfect. I had Cajun Spiced Shrimp and my wife had the Blackened Catfish. Both dishes were truly delicious. We finished our meal by sharing a Coconut Fried Pie and Ice Cream, and it was a perfect ending to a truly wonderful meal. I only wish that Grandpa's was close to our home, because we would definitely be regulars if it was. If possible, we plan on passing through Maumelle on the way back home, and have a second meal...

I hate to write a bad review but come on... I stopped by here to eat this evening, my first time here. The young hostess could careless to start with... Then the waiter forgot my slaw, and didn't even pay attention that I didn't have hushpuppies on my plate when he brought it out.. As far as the food... I LOVED THE FRIED SHRIMP!! Best I have ever had... The fish was OK.. Slaw, beans hushpuppies were a little sweet for me.. Now..when I was brought my ticket I was given two copies of the "customer copy", there is no place to sign on this copy... I took it the young hostess that was totally clueless and would rather sit holding hands with someone rather than deal with me.. The waiters were "clueless" as well as to why that happened... It happens when someone wants to alter your ticket!! I told them I needed a copy to sign and the reprinted my ticket and I took all 3 customer copies with me, and made the hostess leave her hand holding to come get my ticket since I was standing at...
