Iāve visited this establishment three times, hoping each visit would offer a better experience than the lastābut unfortunately, each time has been a disappointment. Iām not sure if itās because Iām not a regular or someone known by the staff or owner, and perhaps thatās not the case, but the service Iāve received has consistently been poorāfrom both the bar and the kitchen.
One major issue is the inconsistency in drink pricing. Thereās no visible price menu at the bar, and depending on whoās serving, Iāve been charged completely different prices for the same drink. For example, I once ordered a double shot of Grey Goose and was charged $9. When I returned to the bar and ordered two more from a different bartender, I was charged $28.57. When I questioned it, I was told the difference was due to taxāyet I wasnāt taxed on the first purchase. Over the course of my visits, Iāve been charged $9, $12, and $14 for the exact same drink. The only consistency I found was from one bartenderāthe white maleāwho consistently charged $9. Everyone else seemed to have their own pricing.
As for the kitchen, I ordered a 6-piece wing and 2 catfish fillets, and it took an hour and a half to receive my food. The excuses ranged from "the fish needs time to thaw" to "weāre waiting on your fries." Meanwhile, I watched other customers who ordered after me receive their foodāsome of whom had catfish as well. On one occasion, there was a large birthday party, which I assumed may have slowed things down, but that still doesnāt justify such a delay. Every customer deserves to be treated equally, whether theyāre part of a big group or dining alone.
If youāre hosting a large party of 40 or more, the kitchen should be better prepared. That includes budgeting labor and food costs, collecting the catering order in advance, prepping cold items the night before, and pulling frozen items early to ensure proper thawing and cooking times. It simply should not take 90 minutes to prepare such a basic order.
Eventually, I asked for a refund and left, only to be told as I walked out that my food was finally ready. At that point, I had no interest in taking itāI had been overcharged for drinks and waited far too long for food.
This is simply my personal experience, and I acknowledge others may have had better visits. I truly wish the best for this business, and I hope others donāt encounter the same...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFINALLY, I got the chance to go see for myself ALL the hype I've been hearing about The Nawf.
Let me say the warm welcome at the entrance was genuine and was felt throughout our stay? We met and shook hands with the cook and one of the owners.
Now to the Sunday "Soul" Food that I had, OMGoodness. Chitterlings, Candied Yams, Collard Greens & Cornbread. EVERYTHING that I had was delicious š.
Now the reason I only gave āāāā stars for the Food was because some at the table that had the Mac and Cheese were not impressed.
However, to be fair, the cook addressed the problem, explained the problem and then corrected the problem with a replacement side. I only mentioned it for the CORRECTED part. By owning the problem instead of taking offense at the Mention of it (oops, IKYFL š¤š¤Øš¤¦š½āāļøš), she ensured a return visit and I consider that honorable. I felt a little embarrassed to ask for a small to-go container for my lil fork of this and bite of that (And Did), but I did it AnyWay (And Did) because I needed it to take my nighttime meds laterš. The ā ā ā ā Food rating was for them, not for me because my Food rating was a Delicious š āāāāā (And Was). I just wanted The Nawf to know that I appreciate them for their handling of the problem and WE will ALL be back AGAIN!!! Yes, I said ALL (And Did), because if I/We are honest, ALL of Us have had a problem in the kitchen where we've missed the intended mark and failed to hit that "perfection" target, IJS. Congratulations on your 2 year anniversary and may you continue to experience growth, prosperity and success in every area of your life at work, at home and at play. So in my Arnold Schwarzenegger voice, "I'll Be Back"! Sorry, no photos. I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI pass this place everyday and Iāve seen it on DD but never ordered. My friend and I wanted to find a spot for happy hour after work on Thursday so I called to inquire about the hours. A man answered gave me the happy hour details, we hung up and he called me back apologizing because he incorrectly told me some information. I appreciated his honesty and the fact that he called back to inform me of the correct hours.
Once my friend and I arrived we were greeted at the counter by a friendly man when we walked in. There are pool tables, ample seating, a stage, tables, and a bar area. I believe I also seen a spot where you can reserve seats for a gathering, but Iām not 100% sure. Very laid back vibe. Especially at the time we arrived which was about 5:15pm. There was only one table seated with around 5 women so not crowded at all.
Both the drinks we ordered were BOGO free. I ordered wings and fish. My friend just ordered fish. I got a 10 piece wing country fried and asked if I could have a variety of the flavors they offer. The fish was delicious and fried hard, just like I like it. It was crispy and very flavorful. The wings were as well.
The man who helped us the entire time was friendly and attentive. He kept checking in with us and the table we sat next to make sure we were good.
We will definitely...
