When your margarita is the best part of your dinner at a steakhouse that’s pretty sad. Staying at a nearby hotel and decided to walk over and enjoy a nice dinner. Restaurant was pretty quiet for 6:15 on a Saturday (should have been our first warning). Sat in the bar and our server came over right away. Started with drinks and they were good - early hubby’s margarita! Hubby had steak with soup and salad and I had shrimp. Sides were a choice of grilled vegetables or seasonal vegetables. Asked what the difference was and she said “nothing, they’re the same” Huh? My meal was good. Shrimp a bit overcooked but seasoned nicely. My veggies (seasonal…not sure) were undercooked but did have good flavor. Hubby had a Caesar salad and it was grossly swimming in dressing. He ordered a 6 ounce filet cooked medium and it arrived rare (or even less cooked than that). He let it rest a bit but it never firmed. We waited quite a while and our server never came by to do the usual “how are things”. It took over 5 minutes to get her attention (& remember it’s not busy). We finally get her attention and before coming to our table she stops and visits with some co-workers. She arrives and takes his steak and said they will do a “cook up” (something like that). The cook up takes a long time. I am completely done with my meal by this time. The manager brings the steak back and it’s beyond well done. My husband comments on the fact it’s overcooked and she said she’ll compensate for it on the bill. By this time we just want to get out of there. He doesn’t eat it and our server says “I know…I can’t believe they cooked it like that. “ When we get the bill they took $15 off his $27 meal…so we paid $12 for a cup of soup and soggy salad. In hindsight we wish we would have demanded more but it was a long day of traveling but we now know Outback is not somewhere we need to go. There are many steak options…go somewhere else.
After our negative experience the owner reached out and refunded our meal in the form of gift cards. We do not live in the area so gave them to our son/DIL to use before they expire. They told us they had a very nice meal...
Read moreThis was the home to probably the worst Outback I've ever been to, a shame considering it's my favorite steakhouse chain. I ordered a prime rib and when it arrived it had a big chunk missing that had been cut off, the rarity of the steak was exposed on the outside cause they had cut through the meat. I showed my waitress and she saw the problem immediately (she didn't deliver it) apologized and ran it to the back. But then the manager came over to "inform" me (more like to intimidate me) and tell me that it was just a chunk of fat that was cut off for presentation. In my fine dining experience, steak fat gets trimmed BEFORE you cook it, and in the case of my prime rib, I would prefer it never be cut off at all because that's where all the flavor is. I explained that, and all I got was attitude and a petty, "yeah well I've been doing this a long time too." And with that she walked off. I had to ask my waitress twice for silverware after my second steak had arrived (looking no better than the first but I'm hungry at this point.) Then when the bills finally arrived, it looked a little high, and I grabbed a menu to find out I'd been overcharged, paying for a whole side of chili instead of just the upcharge for choosing a premium side. 🙃 Never coming back to this location again. Mistakes I can forgive, the lack of accountability and attitude, I will not. I would recommend just taking the drive to Conway instead, their staff...
