Señor Tequila on Camp Robinson Road is our favorite Mexican food restaurant in the Twin Cities area. We have been eating here for years now. We have also eaten at the one on University (?), and it was just as delicious! My husband was raised close to the original North Little Rock Mexico Chiquito. But as it closed, and they went under, we sought out another restaurant that would give us our spicy food "fix"! It wasn't long before we found and settled on the flavorful offerings of Señor Tequila! When you first arrive, they bring uou warm corn chips and cool, but spicy with peppers hot sauce for dipping. I found the hot sauce SO HOT that I ordered a bowl of queso blanco-- melted white cheese-- for my chips!! I have had the Chicken Fajitas- which were served with warm soft tortillas. They were seasoned perfectly and were delicious at lunch as the special of the day. However, my husband and I are creatures of habit when it comes to what we enjoy, and what we enjoy is the Enchilada Special: 2 beef enchiladas smothered in your choice of red sauce, creamy cheese sauce-- I had the cheese sauce and hubby had the traditional red sauce! The platter comes with refried beans and Spanish rice. I don't eat beans, so I exchange my beans for a double portion of rice. We also ordered a bowl of Pico de Gallo to flavor up our food. LOVE that Cilantro!! In very short time, one of the polite waiters came out with our HOT platters of food!! We neither one have large appetites anymore, so we ate half and brought the other half home to eat the next day! By the time we put ours in the to-go plates, there were quite a few people coming in for supper time. The food is always hot, delicious and not overly seasoned. Usually the hot sauce and chips appetizer is just hot enough to make your nose run, and Coke disappear, but it was "¡muy caliente!" this last visit!! I had to leave it alone! All the staff are very polite, clean, eager to take your order. I have never jad a rude waiter here. There is a bar in the back, but you can order a mixed drink to your table to drink. I love the music and the paintings on the walls, and the whole atmosphere here!! PS: for those of you who know me/us, you know that I am not a drinker of alcohol at all! I decided to include the price list for those of...

Typically, I enjoyed my time at Senior Tequila. The food has always been good and the speed at which it is delivered is great despite being a sit-down restaurant. Recently, however, I had an experience that I hoped would never happen to me.
My method of payment (like the majority of customers) was card and of course, I was given the option to tip. Now, I typically don't tip BUT, I was feeling positive today and decided to round up my bill with the tip. Well, it appears that my original tip was not high enough for my waitress, and she decided to demonstrate a lack of integrity and change my tip amount to a higher price.
How did I find out about this, you may ask? Well, apart from being aware of my card activity, I had a lovely digital receipt sent to me via email from "Square" later that night, and I was in shock to see that the tip amount shown was different than what I remembered writing. Of course, I was determined to get to the reason behind this so the next day, I went to speak to the manager.
The way the manager handled it was sincere and professional, and he was able to pull up my original paper receipt to verify with me that the amount I originally wrote was different than what was entered on their system. He gave me his apologies and provided me a full refund of the tip.
This encounter with management was surprising but very welcomed. My hope is that he will truly talk to the waitress in question and inform other workers to stray away from such actions. (We did get the name of the waitress but out of respect, it is anonymous)
My REASON for writing this lengthy review is to spread awareness and URGE my fellow card holders that if you pay with card and provide a tip using it, it is in YOUR BEST interest to keep a closer eye on your receipts and be checking your bank statements to make sure you are paying what you INTENDED to pay.
While this unfortunate situation happened to me, I was lucky to have caught it BUT, the hard truth remains. This isn't the first time this has happened at this restaurant and this won't be the last. There is no telling how many other card holders were unknowingly paying extra...
Read moreWhen this place opened about 30 yrs ago, I was one of the 1st thru the doors & it was my favorite place. Ever since the wu-flu, service is lacking as they seem to charge whatever price they want for items, regardless of the price on the menu. For example, there is one size cheese dip on the menu for say 6.99, they charge you 11.99 & tell you you ordered the large when you didn't even know there was a choice of sizes, then the smart alleck who apparently runs the place on weekend evenings & looks like he just started shaving 20 minutes ago, just smirks at you like he's amused at the gringo. I purposely avoided the place for a year, started going back, then the last time was there, I ordered cheese enchiladas ala'carte to go with my main dish, 2 for 3.50. I asked the waiter to explain why my bill didn't match menu prices & he kept pointing to my main dish & the cheese enchilada entree, two full dinners instead of dinner & a side. I get the manager involved & it's the same smirking punk from last time & he says the waiter is indeed wrong about being charged for 2 entrees. The bill is not what I expected because the alacarte enchiladas are 3.50 EACH. By this time, I'm getting loud cause this guy is SO disrespectful. He doesn't seem to care that people are starting to stare while I loudly ask while pointing directly at the menu, which says 2 for 3.50, I will never be back. I don't know if the original owner (who many years ago was there all the time & knew my wife and I by name) still owns the joint, but I may try to find him at one of the other locations. If this guy has done this to me twice over a year apart, it must have happened to dozens of other loyal customers. And for everytime someone notices, there must be a dozen times he gets...
