Poke & More — Restaurant in North Miami

I never give bad reviews but this place was very disappointing. The spicy tuna and spicy salmon taste AWFUL!

I came here specifically for a delicious spicy salmon bowl and that is not what I got. First of all, I told the girl behind the counter to give me the surimi and the spicy SALMON and she put the spicy tuna on my bowl. I had to correct her and she kindly removed the tuna and put salmon instead. Secondly, it took me several seconds to realize that I had a ball of ground up fish on my rice bowl. It looked like they took a can/bag of shredded fish and tossed it with their sauce. I’ve eaten at a lot of poke restaurants and I’ve never seen tuna or salmon prepared like that. Usually they cut fresh fish and toss it in the sauce. I was thinking it didn’t look appetizing, but I figured I give it a try and maybe it will taste better than it looks… it did not! It tasted like salmon from a pouch doused in Sriracha. It did not taste fresh and after two bites I was not happy with the bowl.

I went up to the counter and explained to the employee that I thought the spicy salmon mixture would taste as good as the fresh fish but it did not and was wondering if I could have a new bowl with the fresh fish instead and she said “No.” She said the only thing she could offer me was to scoop the fresh fish on top of my already made bowl and put spicy mayo all over it.

I said I would just rather have my money back at that point and she said no to that as well. So out of desperation to salvage my meal I took her offer with the scoop of fresh fish, but it did not make it taste better. I then left.

I am leaving two stars because at least they offered the free scoop of fresh and that their Boba fruit tea was decent and had the big Boba pearls. Other than that I would never come back here for a...

Honest and fair review: I’ve ordered from this place before and the last two times I’ve been I have been disappointed. Last time I went the Asian girl at the cashier was very rude! Didn’t greet me or acknowledge my presence. Also she was trying to rush me as if the place was busy. There was literally NO ONE in the restaurant when I was there. I said to myself I’d never go back because I’m not spending my hard earned money on a disrespectful establishment I don’t care how good the food is. That incident was about 3 months ago. Today, I was craving a boba and this place was the closest to me so I decided to go back hoping maybe I wouldn’t be served by the Asian girl. Luckily I wasn’t!! The service was much better (it was a younger white girl and a young tan guy there in the evening time). Both were patient and kind and even gave me recommendations for a boba drink! I liked that. However!!! The price for the poke bowl was extremely high considering the portions of meat they give. I asked for shrimp and the girl gave me like half a scoop I wasn’t about to ask for more because I know some place charge more for extra meat. I love this place. Sadly, it is rare in Miami where you can eat somewhere with consistent nice staff AND good food. I often find myself stopping by after a long day at work or when I need a little cheering up. Food is good for the soul. The staff is what makes the good food even better. They are generous with the portions. I've never been given bad/old food. I love their great selection of bases and letting us mix it. It is always clean inside. While I eat, I see one of the owners and staff always smiling and being nice to other customers as they come in. I hear other customers say how they love to eat there like I do. I even made one friend in Broward often come down to meet me here for lunch. They recently raised their price a little but I don't mind. The pandemic changed everything. This is a small business.
