What a train wreck. That's the only way that I can describe Alicia's Pupusas' opening day (3/27/2024). It was utter chaos with absolutely no organization whatsoever. I arrived at approximately 12:15 PM with two other family member's and there was a short line ( 3 customers) in front of ours. We stood in line approximately 15 minutes before the customer in front of us informed us that we needed to fill out an order ticket. There was no sign or instruction from any employees. We completed our order ticket, but had no idea what to do with it. There were only two employees working. Two employees to handle all of the cooking, phone calls, payments, and in-person interactions. As we stood in line, phone orders started coming in. I didn't think anything of it until the employees began preparing the phone orders (that came in after we'd taken our place in line) before even acknowledging us. After about 30 minutes of standing in line and making zero progress, one of the employees came over to the people standing in line and collected the order tickets. However, she paid absolutely no attention to the order in which customers had arrived and just put them all in a bunch. Another 15 minutes went by and we witness two parties that arrived after us get their food before us. Mind you, we did not have a large order (just 6 papusas). Meanwhile, phone orders continues to pour in and be prepared before ours. After waiting over an hour without receiving any food, we'd finally had enough and left. Again, I want to reiterate that there were only 3 customers in line ahead of us when we arrived, and our order was ignored for over an hour.
I've had papusas before. They're quite good, and the food that they were preparing her looking good as well. We would've loved to have been able to try Alicia's Papusas, but the business side was an absolute disaster. For starters, this business cannot be efficiently run with just 2 employees. There are simply too many responsibilities that need to be managed. They should close for a week (at minimum) to develop a decent operational plan, because what they're attempting to do now simply cannot sustain...

Aliciaās Pupusas International RestaurantĀ is serving up some of the most authentic and delicious Salvadoran food in Nebraska.
Entering Alicia's pupuseria you're greeted with welcoming smiles and the comforting scent of homemade pupusas sizzling on the griddle. TheĀ pupusas āthick, golden corn cakes stuffed with cheese, beans, pork, or lorocoāareĀ so satisfying and delicious. Crispy edges, a soft center, and delicious fillings that will bring you back time after time.
TheĀ curtido, their house-pickled cabbage slawāis pleasantly crunchy, tangy, and the perfect contrast to the earthy pupusas. Tasty salsa roja, mild or spicy, complete the dish.
On our recent visit, we were told Salvadorian tamales are coming to the menu soon. Wrapped in banana leaf instead of the more common Mexican corn husk tamale. My preferred tamale style.
The vibe here is relaxed and welcoming. Get off I-80, skip the fast food and stop by for a quick affordable bite, $3.75 per pupusa which includes curtido and salsa.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stopped here as we were passing through North Platte on a long road trip. We are so glad we wandered off the highway to find this place. Amazing, authentic pupusas!! The food was incredible. Our pupusas were made to order, so fresh! We tried a number of different fillings, all were great but we especially enjoyed the pork, beans and cheese as well as the loroco. The curtido and different salsas were delicious as well. The owner/chef was absolutely lovely, offering to hold my cranky infant while we ate our dinner. She rocked my baby to sleep while I was able to enjoy fresh, hot pupusas. She was so personable, even went out of her way to strike up a conversation with my shy, Spanish speaking toddler. We felt so welcomed, as if we were family eating in her home. Itās a tiny restaurant, not many tables, so be prepared if youāre stopping with a large group. Definitely donāt give it a second thought - eat here! You...
