This was our first visit. After hearing a lot about this place, we just had to try it. The food was good, but we have some opinions about our experience. First, the acoustics are just horrible. Not really much you can immediately change about that, but still...don't go there expecting to have an intimate or important conversation. My ears are still ringing. The food was fine enough, but in my opinion not the kind of food I'll be talking about for days to come. The menu is very small, non of it really eye-catching. The exception might be the nightly special, which I've heard are very good. The special when we went just wasn't something I was in to, so I got a steak. It was nothing special, but to tell the truth the price reflected that, so I'm not disappointed. I would say that the bill was pretty expensive, but again if I'm honest the nightly specials that were ordered came with dessert, so we think that made it worth the price. The one complaint I have about the food is that two of the people who got the chicken fried steak got MASSIVE portions, and one of them (the one who was the hungriest) got a smaller, tougher chicken fried steak. The inconsistency was surprising. The most notable thing about our experience tonight was the wait time. I personally think it's unacceptable to make a party wait for an HOUR after they ordered for their food. Yes, I know there were several people who all made reservations for the same time as us BUT! if your servers can't handle over a certain amount of people being seated at the same time, DON'T TAKE THAT MANY RESERVATIONS! Stagger them out! And the place really isn't THAT big, and seemed to be very well staffed, so all of us were shocked that we were waiting so long. The servers were very nice and checked in on us, but the kitchen and the bar just couldn't quite keep up. Perhaps the reason why I'm less than impressed with everything is because after waiting and waiting and waiting for our food to come, the excitement was gone and replaced by boredom (and drowned out by loud noises!) Really though, you've got a good place going here, these are just some opinions about changes that would make this one group of diners happier. The prices won't have us returning immediately, but we will be back some time and would like to try other items...
Read moreFrom a "Retired" Chef's point of view. Let's talk Food, Service and Atmosphere all in that order. My wife and I started off with the Walleye Fingers for an appetizer. A wonderful crunchy coating on the outside and a flaky white inside. It also came with a homemade lemon aioli. Now, on to my entree. Being from the Midwest myself, I've grown accustomed to quality beef and the Ribeye Steak I had the other night did not disappoint. The flavor of the steak made my taste buds dance in my mouth. I also had sauteed green beans which were cooked perfectly and very tasty. And to finish off the evening, I had a most delicious Créme Brulée made with real vanilla beans. The dessert looked boring, but made up for it in taste. Now, onto Service. Our Server's name was Shelby. She was extremely friendly and attentive to our needs throughout the night. She let us know what her "favorites" were on the menu and made a few recommendations. She took pictures of my wife and I and even posed for a few pictures herself as seen in this review. We will definitely ask for her to be our Server the next time we come here. And finally, Atmosphere. The interior is quite beautiful. Besides having custom-made HUGE rolling cedar doors, the dining area has copper ceiling tiles. One of the owners (Hector) was kind enough to give me a tour of the "Back of the House" and introduce me to his team of cooks. I could tell they were all working in unison and seemed to enjoy working with each other. I highly recommend The Cedar Room for your dining experience the next time you're thinking of eating...
Read moreI’ve never had such an amazing dining experience anywhere else in my life. Our waitress Kayla was extremely attentive, and lovely to chat with.
We ordered a few drinks (old fashioned and a winter cocktail, Christmas cookie) and Kayla even offered me some wine tastings when I asked about the moscato and Riesling options.
BJ was the one who brought out the wine tastings and after trying them and talking about them, BJ even brought out 2 red options for me to taste. I had told him I never like red wine, but he knew exactly which 2 I should try. I was blown away, he was right! He brought out the bottles for me to see and I took some pictures. This alone was so personal and added to the wonderful experience.
The mixed drinks were made perfectly and tasted AMAZING.
Our food came pretty quickly, or maybe the time passed by fast when chatting with the friendly staff. Immediately we fell in love with both dishes, the signature cut steak was so tender and tasted amazing. The chicken with the creamy garlic sauce was out of this world. The chicken was tender and juicy and the sauce put it over the top. These dishes paired with the garlic mashed potatoes were out of this world.
Also, while the cheesecake was not made in-house, it was certainly good and not the kind you would find in the freezer isle of the grocery store. (I’m very picky about cheesecake!)
After 4 drinks, 2 entrees, and dessert, our bill was $110 before tip. It is well worth every penny.
Huge thank you to Kayla, BJ, Raelyn (I hope I spelt that correctly), and Robin! We cannot wait...
