Tempura | Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in North Platte

I often travel through North Platte when I go to visit my family. Tonight I was staying at a nearby hotel so I decided to try Tempura because I was in the mood for some sushi. I arrived about 8:55 PM and they close at 9:30 PM on Thursday nights. When I arrived, the restaurant tables were kind of in disarray as it looked like they must’ve had a big dinner rush. Later I heard a server talking to another table saying they had a late rush tonight apparently. The tables were all cleaned up during the time I was sitting there. I ordered the tempura appetizer and the super dragon roll. The service was amazingly quick, especially considering how many people were still in the restaurant. I received my appetizer very quickly - like I was shocked to get it so fast! It’s been a long time since I’ve had some tempura and theirs was very good. My roll came out, almost just as fast. It was good but kind of dry for me because it had so much tempura flakes on it. I guess I somehow missed that in the description. I was wishing I had ordered the sashimi or a roll with just raw slices of tuna on it. As I kind of had enough tempura with the appetizer. The people who work there were all very friendly and working very hard. I was surprised arriving so late and seeing so many people still coming into the restaurant and it sounded like they were still getting several to go orders on the phone as well. Clearly, this place does a lot of business. They even offer up some free dessert of green tea ice cream. Don’t pass it up as it was quite good! I will definitely be back here again to try more of their food. I think I was overwhelmed by their menu because they have so many items. It was hard to make a choice! It would definitely be a good place to go with friends and order lots of different things to share! Sadly, I was traveling by myself so I couldn’t eat much more than what I ordered. What a wonderful find. We are a bit hesitant with Chinese food, ya never know what you're gonna get in an unfamiliar town. We went on a whim and the second we walked thru the door our insecurities were put to rest. This place was full of happy guests. It was nice and clean with a tranquil atmosphere. We were greeted right away by friendly staff who seated us immediately. The sign said they were short staffed and to expect delays but to be honest... we ordered and the food was brought out in a very reasonable time. Faster then most places that are fully staffed. The food..... O M Geeee! So good! We are from Valentine, Nebraska and the last time we had excellent Chinese cuisine was about 10-11 years ago from our towns "Yum Yums". We had Mongolian beef, yaki noodles w/chicken(minus the broccoli) , and the Lincoln roll. They were accommodating with the no broccoli and wow! What an amazing feast. Soup, salad, rice, and ice cream to boot. I have missed that particular taste since our towns Chinese place closed down 10 years ago. There has never been a place we've been to replace that uniqueness. I'm so happy to find this little gem in North Platte! Ok so everything was amazing! We came in with a big group, it was kinda awkward at first cause we didn't know where to sit or if we should wait but it looked like staff was pretty busy but we ending up seating ourselves, and then a waiter came around handing us menus. The menu was huuuuge!! They even had a Chinese portion which my non-adventurous friends loved! I ordered the udon noodles with chicken and whole bunch of appetizers, the chicken wings were 10/10 didn't even care for sauce but it was so crunchy and juicy at the same time! Their shrimp tempura was 13/10!!! so crispy!! Literally loved all the apps, and we ordered a ton!!! Sushi was great too, we kinda went around the table trying everything and literally nothing was like um no, everything was sooooo delicious! I would highly recommend anyone to come here, might not look the greatest but boy their food was awesome!!! Our waiter was so sweet and even gave us free green tea ice-cream, everyone got one scoop!! It was also soooo yummy!! We were just driving home but next time we go out to North Platte we are definitely stopping by! It was an amazing, delicious...
