The service here was good except we came at the tail end of the lunch rush at around 12:45 approximately. So it was a good 40 minutes of waiting for other people to get their food before they could even start cooking ours.
The salsa was decent as were the chips. Because of our ended wait we went through a couple bowls of salsa and 2 baskets of chips to help kill the time.
Place was clean and had a good design and layout and pleasant atmosphere. I wish the tables would of had a selection of different hot sauces to pick from instead of just one generic one.
I ordered Fajitas as it's pretty hard to mess those up. But I was wrong. Food was warm , not hot and sizzling. Nothing was spiced or seasoned. The steak was under cooked and was a disturbing grayish colour and not a vibrant dark brown etc.. the peppers and onions also not properly cooked. The chicken was almost non existent and the shrimp under cooked as well and sparce to come by.
The other plate had overcooked rice, or I was getting what was left from the bottom of the pot perhaps. The refried beans were runny and the wrong colour, like almost a very pale pinkish grey. The pico needed work and the guacamole was fresh, so bonus! LOL!
I found out after that it was the regular chef's one day off and they had an 18 year old kid in the kitchen who was barely hanging in there after getting slammed with the lunch rush.
I hope to return in the future to give this place another shot and see if they can...
Read moreLa Hacienda is a heck of a wonderful Mexican restaurant to eat at -- centered on the edge of downtown North Platte(!). The service is very nice - checked on us frequently, the food is excellent (better than many in the larger cities of Nebraska) and is spiced just right (not too spicy & not too flat). The waitress told us that the head chef has a knack for hitting the right taste on the head and she is definitely right! In addition, the chips and salsa are perfect... so the next time you're in North Platte looking for a bite, pass up all of the fast food chains closer to the Interstate and eat here, at La Hacienda -- I promise that at the end, you'll be filled...
Read moreThe food was okay. The server was nice. I tried the street tacos, although that isn't what it was called on there menu. They came with a choice of meats, covered with onion and cilantro and accompanied by lime wedges.
The soft flour tortillas had seen a grill so that's my favorite way to have them. However, the carnitas (pork) was not very flavorful. I added some salt and salsa and they were better. I don't think I have ever had to add anything to carnitas in any other...
