Been going to the Fish House on and off for 4 years and we stopped by after a couple of months away and things seem to have deteriorated and not the first time things have gone wrong eating here. The waitress mixed up our side order, as she did with the table next to us. She took our food back, told cooks and one cook reached into the fish baskets with their bare unsanitary hands and switched the fish. She brought food back and I said I want new fish based on what I just witnessed. With her smug and condescending attitude she argued with me that they run a a sanitary kitchen. I have my self worked in food service and via a cursory search on Google about handling food with bare hands, one finds that they should be waring gloves when handling ready-to-eat food. One of the 2 cooks had a beard and was not waring a beard guard as required. Owner came to table and berated us for complaining and said 23 years and never a food violation. I find that hard to believe. This owner argued with us once before when we had food issues. Before leaving I noticed the bare handed cooked with his sweaty arm resting on the shelf, scrolling through his phone, where the put the food up when it's ready to serve. There food is not always hot, especially the onion rings and fries. If you aren't concerned with how your food is handled then eating here shouldn't be a...
Read moreRemember the best fish 'n chips you ever had but can't seem to find them anywhere now? Take a trip to Shark's Fish House in North Port. Easy to find right on route 41. Terrific wait staff that will do everything they can to make your visit a great one. Owners ALWAYS on premises and do all the cooking themselves just to ensure everything's perfect. Not your run of the mill huge impersonal seafood restaurant, this place is small and informal but once you visit, you'll become family. Their battered fish portions are huge and cooked to perfection. Battered shrimp is large and TASTES like shrimp; not bland. Even the fries and hush puppies are great! Haven't tried all of the items on the menu because I can't go there and order anything other than the fish 'n chips or shrimp! Daily specials might be one piece of fish with four shrimp plus fries and cole slaw for $9.99. Wait staff keeps up with sanitizing areas after each party leaves, and condiments are served in separate, small containers so no one's used them before you. Plenty of room between tables, too. Can't beat the price; can't beat the service; can't beat the food; can't beat the cleanliness. We keep going back whenever the urge hits. Well worth the trip...
Read moreOur party of 6 arrived on Friday afternoon. We had to wait a bit for a seat, but that is no problem since they have some outdoor seating set up just for waiting. While we were outside we met some lovely people from Michigan! That was certainly a wonderful surprise!. When we were seated, our wait person gave us menus and then took our drink orders. The menu was simple and basic. No frills, but exactly what you would expect from a fish house. The place was clean and very bright and was buzzing with all the conversations going on. I ordered the haddock and shrimp (fried) with mixed vegetables rather than fries. It also came with coleslaw and you could not substitute that, but the coleslaw was delicious, so why would you? The meal was excellent and we will certainly be back. Remember to come early, there is somewhat limited parking, but people move through pretty quickly so your wait will not be long. If you are looking for a delicious, down to earth fish house, I would highly recommend this place. Prices are more than reasonable, I think you will have a great time. ...
