Came here to dinner with my elderly dad. He was craving a sliced beef sandwich. Life is short, so we went! I knew this location didn’t serve alcohol since the first time I came here so thought we could BYOB. We walked in and ordered our food at counter. Then I asked if they were BYOB and said I had some beers in a bag. The girl ringing us up didn’t know so she relied on the guy working next to her. He said sure people do it all the time and no problem. I thanked them and proceeded to pay and sit down with my dad. After sitting down, a 3rd person walked up to our table. She was small statured and blonde (possibly a manager)? But approached with a lot of hostility and started the conversation with, “NO! You cannot drink beer in here. We are not BYOB!” No introduction or anything as if she already knew me or we had a past conversation. I was a little embarrassed because the other tables looked at my father and I like we were causing a scene?! It was bizarre she came at me like she did. I explained to her how I was informed by the guy, and it’s no big deal if he was wrong but may want to clear it up with employees before making it a scene with a Customer?! I put the unopened beers back in the bag, no problem. We get our food and she returns and says loudly again, “You need to take this beer out of here!” Again, feeling embarrassed that’s she acting like I’m causing a scene and she’s talking loudly enough for other customers to hear and her own staff standing over at the counter. I told her no problem and took the bag to the car. I came back in and explained to her that is why I asked and there was no need to make the customer (who was very open about it!) to be made to feel like I was doing something wrong?! What the heck. She seemed young, and was maybe getting coached on information she didn’t know or dealt with before but man! She needed to chill out and be coached on introducing herself and showing a good example to her staff on how to approach a situation like this. Which was NO BIG DEAL and understand that there are many establishments around here that are BYOB. If you’re not, then maybe put a sign??! Or train your employees to know this answer and handle the customer with respect?! Other BBQ places are much closer to my house so I have many choices that I can frequent instead of this place. Only been twice now, and won’t be a 3rd. Boo. Don’t even remember if the food was good or not. We sat with our tail between our legs and enjoyed beers back on my patio when we...
Read moreI've been wanting to try this place out for the longest time, and when I finally did, I was impressed! The ribs and brisket were tender, and the bologna sandwich was good. I definitely knew I would be back.
So I did, the following evening after work and oh goodness... What a difference a day make.
My wife told me the ribs from the first evening were good but boiled. Boiled meat is blasphemy in the BBQ world, but I figure I would try them again anyway because I really enjoyed the ribs the first time. On the second visit, I went inside to order. The ladies at the counter, awesome. Nice. Genuine. The food those cooks made was HORRIBLE. A good amount of the bologna meat in the sandwiches was burned and not edible. No way the person who cooked that bologna would eat it yet they served that garbage to me. The pork ribs on my second trip were these small little disgusting pieces of dry meat. I'm thinking, I waited 10-15 minutes for this?!?! I also picked up some beef ribs I have not yet tried, and I wonder if l'll need to MacGyver those when I heat them up. If i eat them. Needless to say, I won't be back there.
I'm not sure what happened between my drive-through experience and walk-in to take out experience, but the food they gave me with the latter DEFINITELY let me know they have cooks that dont care about the food which is a major red flag for me. That's too bad because I really appreciated listening to how well the ladies treated their customers. They got the hard part. They are the face of the business and are doing what they need to do.
Those cooks need to up their game.
Oh...

Ya’ll I am so disappointed with Riscky’s on 26. It used to be my go to place for beef ribs. My family and I used to joke that they were Brontosaurus ribs and would have them once or twice a month. During the holidays, I would cater in pans of ribs for my entire office… they were so good, I wanted to share the joy. Unfortunately, the last few times I’ve done take out, the ribs have been burnt & leathery. The take out boxes were so well wrapped in cellophane, it was too much trouble to check while sitting in the drive thru and once I got home, it was too much trouble to go back. Tonight, we attempted to dine in for better results. No such luck, the ribs were dry, leathery and lacking flavor. I brought it to the managers attention. He was very nice and apologized. He tried to make it right. However, all the ribs that they had on hand were cooked in the same batch and in the same state. All the other ribs were raw and frozen solid. The manger offered us the remaining burnt ribs at no charge. This would have been great had they been edible. Suffice to say, Riscky’s has lost my business. Need ya’lls recommendations for good beef ribs in...
