July 2024- a new update. We never did go in to receive a paid meal because we weren’t going to go back. However, tonight we decided to go in and give it another try. We are glad we did. The food and service were great. The sunny salad and ciabatta bread are our favorites. For dinner we get the chicken Alfredo and chicken parmigiana. We are so glad they have broccoli now as well! The owner, John did come to our table and ask us how our meal was and we were glad he came over. A few things- we were seated where we could see directly into the kitchen and could hear them talking to each other which was distracting and made the atmosphere only four stars. We will be back and we hope it continues to be a place where we can be regulars.
June 2023- I’m really sad to have to update my review. I recently gave them 5 stars and was a huge fan. This was our go to for Italian food. However, I am not sure we will be going back . The past two times we’ve gone- we’ve gone early and during the week and maybe this is our problem. I’m not sure. Yesterday, the Alfredo wasn’t made correctly and we returned it - which we rarely do. This is our go to dish and we go there regularly to know that something wasn’t right. I’m glad we did because even the small amount we ate yesterday - we are regretting today. Also, we are put off by how the owner never comes up to us to see how everything is going (even when we sent back our food). He only goes to guests who are older even when we’ve been the only guests in the restaurant. Most of the staff are great, friendly and work hard. As an ex-server- I understand tipping. We usually tip 20% so it’s not like we are a young couple in our 30s that people don’t want in their section. We are...
Read moreWe came in from out of town for a birthday dinner with friends, and we were so looking forward to our meal after all the good things we had heard. First issue was that both of the Stuffed Shells on the Beach came out COLD. The server did warm them up upon request, but there was no apology or acknowledgment that this was an issue or checking back on us after the bad start.
The service was slow, but we are used to that in a pandemic, so we kind of expect that. The cream puffs we ordered were frozen and not at all fresh, which we did not expect.
The cherry on top of the bad experience was when my husband went to the bathroom and there was so much "liquid" on the floor, there wasn't a dry place to stand. He sopped it up the best he could, asked for what we thought was the manager, and advised her of the situation. She said she'd get right on it. The rest of the party paid and went outside, and I had to use the ladies room. That same person was standing right outside the door downright trash talking my husband for complaining and asking for her, and didn't understand what the big deal was. She looked quite shocked when I exited the door and she saw me. Just completely unacceptable and wholly...
Read moreUpdate: dinners from $17-$35. Wine about $8-$10/half glass Dessert about $10 No Caesar dressing available, ok, excusable. Lasagna was a piece about 3 inches square, 2 layers and no fillings (like ricotta, ground meat, sausage). Fettuccine Alfredo was put on same plate so the red and white sauces became one. Baked ziti was actually ziti pasta in red sauce with a few strands of mozzarella melted on top. Bill was $78 (2 glasses of wine and the food above). With tip $98. You could buy alot of pasta and feed an army for $98. Recently: The food has become hit or miss. Still expensive. A slice of cake is around $8, and is really half of a slice. Love your dessert: the Blowing Rock Market has a full sized slice of cake, it's delicious, and is $5. First review:Very excellent food with a warm welcome from the owner and an attentive wait staff. Lucky us, it was wine tasting night. And don't forget the triple chocolate cake and the carrot cake. Be aware that prices are well above average. $23-25 for chicken parm and $30 for fettuccine with 3 shrimp...
