Beach Buns Bakery — Restaurant in Northfield

Iced coffee bucket, regular coffee, and Cinnabon were amazing! Some do the best coffee I ever had and Cinnabon was perfectly made, not too sweet and just the right touch of cinnamon and sugar and cream cheese frosting.

What I have to call out though is I encountered one of the rudest and obnoxious cashiers. She was a young girl that had long-ish blonde hair that had color in her ponytail I want to say. There were several instances that left a bad taste in my mouth. First off, one of the baristas accidentally made one of the coffees I got with almond milk and there was a severe nut allergy in my party so I said oh no no could you please remake it and please use a brand-new cup (sometimes baristas would just pour new coffee in the same cup but bc of the allergy i just wanted to make sure it was a new cup) and the cashier just goes in the most rude tone “yeah… we’re going to remake it, don’t worry” and also rolled her eyes at me.

After I got my order I didn’t like my iced coffee bucket flavor I got and so I went back up to get a new one and it would have been nice if she was like “could we make you something different?” (Not all places do this and yes the coffee is expensive and I’m buying from a small business, but it was the complete and utter lack of customer service and hospitality this young girl was giving) but she didn’t and I was like “I’ll just pay for a new one.” I was asking if she could put a certain type of coffee into the iced bucket and she just gives me the BIGGEST attitude and is like “yeah, drip coffee is the iced coffee.” I also asked for a small amount of milk in my cup and so after the cashier took my order she turns around to the other barista with a snarky, rude voice and goes “iced coffee with just a LITTLE BIT OF MILK” and then looked back at me as I said that like she was making fun of me.

Also it got really busy after I came in and one of the baristas was trying to get this girls attention for something and she just says in a loud OBNOXIOUS voice in front of the customers “I’mmmm busssssyyy, I’m doinggg myyy jooobbuhh”

Like the lack of customer training this girl had is astounding. Not sure if the owner was in today, but she needs have a chat with this young lady because her attitude was disgusting and honestly embarrassing for her if she thinks she can act that way to customers. Oh, and I also caught her side eying me while I was sitting down eating/drinking. AND when I went back up to the counter all the girls working there were talking in a little circle whispering, no doubt about the interaction she...

I was genuinely excited to try the cinnamon rolls at Beach Buns after hearing great things, but my experience was disappointing and honestly concerning from a food safety standpoint.

While I was in the store, I watched one of the staff members clean up a spill by tossing a rag on the floor, wiping it with his shoe as if it were a mop, then picking up the now dirty towel with his gloved hand. Immediately afterward, he went straight into the tub of icing using the SAME gloved hand, scooping out icing and smearing it all over the cinnamon rolls. That’s an unacceptable level of hygiene in any food service setting.

I ended up not eating the cinnamon rolls I purchased because I was so disgusted by this. My wife messaged the business privately on Instagram to give them a heads-up (politely!), but the only response we got was: “Oh jeez thank you for letting me know!!!”- no apology, no indication of taking it seriously, and no assurance that this would be addressed.

Really disappointing. When it comes to food, especially something served to the public, basic sanitation and accountability matter. I won’t...

I really love coming to Beach Buns! The environment is always so warm and inviting, and the staff is super friendly. It’s a great place to relax, work, or catch up with friends.

That said, I’ve found that the drinks sometimes don’t quite meet my expectations. For example, I tried the strawberry matcha today, and it mostly tasted like strawberry milk—I was hoping for a stronger matcha flavor to balance it out. I’ve tried the chai latte, vanilla latte and the strawberry mocha latte and I just don’t know why but I really don’t favor the drinks at all.

I’d love to keep coming back and trying new drinks, so I hope there’s a little more consistency or adjustment in flavors. Other than that, I really enjoy the experience here and appreciate all the hard work that goes into making this...
