Chico & Sons Sub Shop — Restaurant in Northfield

Ok let me begin by saying my husband n I used to love n cherish this place for years it was like the sister of the beloved Dino’s n Margate where I’m from. It’s now completely different n on a serious downhill course.

Tuna Sub: Let me preface my review by saying that I’m lactose intolerant. Previously, I was able to tolerate the famous Whipped Tuna Sub because they used a HIGH quality, LOW lactose free whipped spread. Recently I ate a Chico and Sons Whipped Tuna Sub n suffered a SEVERE bout of Lactose Intolerance resulting n many horrible episodes of diarrhea (8 times sick as a dog all night long). No sleep at all thank you for very much.

Obviously 🙄 now they’re using a very high lactose, high fructose CHEAP “Restaurant Spread” like Applebees crap or the equivalent thereof. If you want to get sick eat this. My hubby who’s NOT Lactose Intolerant at all hated it too. He noticed the Tuna sub was completely different sadly. Icon gone.

On a happier note: The pizza steak, turkey, pepper n egg subs were very good. Nice.

However, their hot dogs that used to be great were a complete disaster. The actual hot dog was half the size (just a small skinny hot dog on a cheap supermarket roll all dry, flavorless n crusty) This area is known for excellent bread n this garbage was jus inedible and wrong. LOADED up with horrible tasting thick COLE SLAW from hell and some RAW nasty onions with pickles. Not at all the toppings we normally order n usually love. Disgusting hot dogs 🌭 ewww

It’s the worst hot dog in Atlantic County I’m very sorry to have to say this but we’re angry. I’m usually full of love.

As far as the service goes? Not good. They forgot two orders or fries to add insult n injury.

So yeah this is a big Nope on this place sad but true as it used to be an icon in my family for years. Bad quality, lack of attention to detail n very VERY forgettable.

We will be now getting ours Subs from another sandwich...

Calling all Sopranos fans and food fans, this is your place! I chomp on the regular at other places and I’m usually not really impressed with a meal anymore, this place blew me away. Not only the atmosphere with the Sopranos memorabilia but clean tables and floors. I’m sorry to say I just heard about them and the reason being I just joined Instagram (old man alert). I asked the staffs advice on what to get and she suggested the Eugene. Excellent combo of flavors, quality and packed above average, not falling all over the place but very generous with their portions. I also got an order of their BBQ wings, I’d have to say best wings I’ve had in a long time. Meaty full wings and the sauce was absolutely delicious. I ordered another sub for the next day it was the FBI. I’d have to say everything in this sub works but my personal preference would be a chicken cutlet instead of a veal cutlet. Again very delicious and very generous with the portions. Agent Harris will be back whenever he needs his fix. I highly and strongly recommend and suggest you come here and chow down. It may sound sad but I’m overly excited to return and feast on more deliciousness. Thank you for your hospitality and excellently delicious food! Ordered online... get a text my food is on its way. 50 minutes later... I call and ask where tlny food is... one girl says they delivered it to the wrong house, another gets on the line and says they will send it right out... gets to my house and is ice cold. Boneless tenders look like store bought nuggets and should be taken off the menu... fries were cold and soggy... worst service in the area with the worst food. I should have just cancelled the order. McDonald's would have been a better bet... never again.

In response to your reply. I appreciate the offer to refund the order but that should have been done last night before you sent out the order. You also should of had fresh food cooked not sent the food you guys left there for 80 minutes on the counter. You can keep the payment. But your staff failed and management did as well...
