Service: * Food: ** Coffee: *
Staff is super friendly and polite; nothing bad to report there!
Food is tasty, but Iām not a food critic, so 4 stars for enjoying my chicken salad wrap!
And for the coffee⦠For full disclosure, Iām really into coffee from everything between production and brewing. So for me, I donāt think the baristas are trained properly on the equipment, nor are they being supplied with the correct tools.
For example, I ordered both my pour over and one shot of espresso black, and they both still had grounds in the cups. Espresso was bitter, but not harsh so it was ok. The pour over was good too, but again tasted relatively average. The pour over was brewed with an Ethiopian bean from Yirgacheffe, which typically is a solid region for great tasting beans. If you want to really get specific, itāll depend on the producer and farmer as well, not just solely on the region.
It seems to me that the coffee is roasted too dark for the beans that are being sourced: Ethiopia, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and more. These seem like specialty coffees that arenāt being benefited by their roast level (all the bags looked as though theyāre labeled as dark roasted).
To be fair, the final cupās taste always depends on the customer, though. For me, I love black coffee and want to taste quality beans. Taliza may be focused more on serving the crowd that prefers sweetened lattes more-so than black coffee drinkers and thatās ok.
I just wish the coffee was treated at the roasting and brewing stages to best highlight the attributes of the beansā natural flavors so the coffee can be enjoyed black just as easily as other styles.
Overall, I would say this place is worth it if youāre looking for a quick bite, chill atmosphere, friendly service, and a latte (or honestly any coffee drink that is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is our go to coffee spot on the weekends! We come here pretty often. Tbh I prefer the strength of the coffee and the overall vibe of the Santa Fe Springs location, but this one just happens to be closer to us and anyway they still make great coffee and the early bird sandwich on a bagel is always a hit.
HOWEVER. I have to say I can only give 3 stars because their service when online ordering from the website is TERRIBLE. I really don't think they should offer it as an option because it's so terrible. We have online ordered three times hoping that the last time was just a fluke, but every. single. time. the order isn't ready when it says it will be, and/or something is missing, or they completely forgot about it, or whatever. There always seems to be an issue. It seems like any online orders throw them off and everything gets mixed up and they end up falling way behind. Online ordering is supposed to be convenient but it seems like it just causes a huge inconvenience for workers and customers alike. Today's experience was unfortunately pretty bad as we had a friend visiting and took him here and it didn't make a good impression at all that they completely missed his order and he ended up waiting for close to 40 mins for his food and drinks. Quite a disappointment.
We really like this place so we plan on still frequenting here on the weekends, we will probably just not use their online...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came here the other day and witnessed the owner of this place completely degrading their staff, calling them names, making them feel embarrassed and low for not working to their standards. these poor girls that i see every time i come into taliza work so hard. they are understaffed and unappreciated. it is so sick to see an owner treating his employees this way on a daily and these poor girls accept the way things are and still try their hardest. i always feel welcomed and treated kindly, i really enjoy the drinks they make me. I even have word that the owner doesnt tip them out for all the work they do. it...
