The entire experience from beginning to end was a disaster! We arrived at the Norwalk, CT location and below is a checklist of everything that went wrong from start to finish: Even though our reservation was made weeks earlier and confirmed the day of, when we arrived, our table was not ready and there was confusion as to what was arranged. The Host Manager was rude to my mom when she asked how long we would have to wait, because the birthday boy was soon to arrive and it was a surprise dinner. There were not enough tables assigned for our party of 22. We had originally made our reservation for a party of 25 people. They had to pull additional tables and the one booth we had also requested was not provided. We were notified that there was some confusion with our reservation. What was originally arranged with then Manager, who initially took our reservation, is not what we were given by the staff that evening. Our seating was not where we agreed but we decided to make the best of it! We had originally requested a particular server, as our server for the evening, since we had previously dined with him and felt he was a great server. We were assigned two different servers, who seemed to also be serving other tables as well. We complained to manager the two servers, who kept disappearing on us. We had to continuously track down our two servers to request place settings and silverware as they did not provide enough for each guest. We had originally selected the $40 menu, but when seated, was given the regular house menu. We advised them that we had agreed to the special $40 menu, but they brought us the $35 menu to select our courses. We had originally selected the $40 menu, because someone within our party has a severe mushroom allergy, and we kept trying to explain to manager, the new acting GM, and the servers, that no one can order mushrooms. The $35 menu they gave us as the $40 menu, had one dish that contained mushrooms. Your servers need training on proper serving etiquette. They were reaching over our heads, instead of serving from the side. There was no water provided and some of our party did not get the drinks they ordered for the entire night. When our dinner finally came out, the runners did not know whose dish belonged to whom, and they kept walking back and forth yelling over us with what dishes they had. The server requested but never had, came over to assist them, and he had to go locate the two servers to also come and assist the runners. Some of our party were given salads and some were not, some of the salmon dishes ordered, were not properly cooked (partially raw), and some of the steak was served cold or overcooked (requested medium but received well done/dry). One person in our party did not receive their dinner. When he asked the server about it, they brought it to him in a to-go container. When the acting GM came to the table to apologize, he advised he would comp my meal, but that did not seem to make its way to Janine. My meal was on the bill at the night's end. All of the staff kept coming to apologize to us for the entire evening, since we were there celebrating 4 birthdays. Even after the bill was paid and we tipped the staff, they were still apologizing that our evening was ruined. The only saving grace the entire evening was when they assigned the initial sever requested to oversee the two servers. From that point on, he made himself available to us, and told the two servers what to do and how to do it. When it was time to serve the 4 cakes we brought with us, TK had to tell them to remove the dirty dishes from the tables first. They needed to provide us with fresh dessert plates to serve the cakes. The fourth cake went missing and at the end of the evening, we were told that the cake boxes were disposed of. Even though the hors d'oeuvres were discounted from the bill and we were given a 25% discount, it does not make up for the disastrous evening. We've dined there before and had great experiences but again, this experience was enough for us to say, never again!
