We have frequently ordered from this restaurant and were always thrilled with the taste and the quality. They've always been a little expensive, but we considered them to be worth it because of how good they were.
We ordered yesterday for the first time in months (order 11819781). The sandwiches were just not the same. Everything seemed cheaper and of lesser quality. There was less meat and toppings in the sandwich. There was not as much seasoning. I ordered mushrooms and got none on my sandwich, and I didn't see the extra provolone I paid for, although because it was melted I might be wrong about that. I did order onions; in the past the onions were sliced up and nicely sauteed and just went with the sandwich well. Last night I feel like maybe they forgot that my sandwich needed onions and decided to just fry up the onion skins that they had lying to the side. I wound up having to pull all of them out of my sandwich or my mouth because they could not be chewed. They also had some sort of weird taste to them like they've been preserved or pickled or something.
Anyway, for the price it's no longer worth it. When they were delicious sandwiches we would get them and consider it a treat. Now it was just a bunch of money spent on food that really wasn't enjoyable. One thing I would say has stayed the same quality as the bread. They've always...
Read moreI purchased the "Founders Special" today during my lunch break from work. The service was AWFUL! One person cooking and one person taking/filling orders and taking money. There were other employees at the location as once the line backed up to the door the Mgr finally came out of I think an office. The food. That was the worst part of the visit! I was hoping for a wonderful Penn Station sandwich and what I got was gross and disgusting! I picked up my sandwich to eat it and the grease that ran off of it into the basket had the bread so soggy that after a couple of bites it was simply inedible. Not to mention it was horribly disgusting to look at! The onions on the sandwich were not really onion slices but the peel. I pulled several out of my mouth when I wasn't able to chew them. Penn Station used to be a good restaurant and I guess maybe it still is but not this location! I work at an office complex right down the road and I surely will not be stopping at that location again! I paid way too much money for food that was just simply gross!!! I wanted to speak to the Manager but was told he was busy. Come on Penn Station! Did you already know the food was bad? Too much money for sub par food....
Read moreI will never return to Penn Station Subs. Me and a coworker just spent our lunch break here watching five adults handle everything from cash, to trash, to their noses and not once washing or sanitizing their hands in between. I brought it to their attention as well as a customer whom just handed an employee cash and the same guy turned around and with his dirty, bare hands handled cheese slices and bread. The "general manager" then followed me outside and threatened me telling me to never speak to his customers again or show my face around here "or there will be trouble". I guess a grown man doesn't like being called out on his incompetency of managing a sub shop and it's few employees. I reported this incident to the District Manager who informed me Penn Station does not supply gloves and the expectation is for the employees to wash their hands. While Penn Station Subs saves money by not providing gloves for food handling the public is of course being exposed to food born illnesses due to poor training, poor work ethics, poor supervision, poor practices and poor service from grown adults who realistically should have enough common sense to...
